Jerusalem on high alert after Hamas announces 'day of rage'
Warnings of widespread violence in Jerusalem on Monday proved to be unneeded, but police say the real test will be Tuesday.

Hamas announced a "day of rage" in response to the dedication of the restored Hurva synagogue in the Old City's Jewish Quarter, police said. Large forces will continue to be deployed throughout the city, with 3,000 police and border police officers stationed in East Jerusalem and neighboring villages.

Limitations on access to Muslim prayers on Temple Mount will continue for the fifth day. Members of the Higher Arab Monitoring Committee are set to hold a procession in the east of the city on Wednesday.

Jerusalem on Monday was tense but quiet. Around noon, Palestinians began throwing stones near the Mount of Olives cemetery, but no injuries were reported.

At 6 P.M., scores of youths hurled stones at Border Police troops from the Palestinian side of the Qalandiya crossing, north of Jerusalem. The youths were dispersed, and the crossing closed.

Some stone throwing was also reported in the Silwan neighborhood. A general strike called in the Old City for noon largely failed to materialize, as most businesses remained open as usual.

4. C'mon, Jimmy. You can admit it. Israel has every intention of taking
whatever isn't nailed down from Palestine while they flip off the rest of the world as they do it.

I guess that you wouldn't mind if they gave back all that US treasure that they have been taking all these years. ...or are they entitled to that as well?;)

5. They don't get that money because of AIPAC. They get it because it suits our interests.
And it ties their hands.

And it gives the US an opening to condemn them - not because they killed someone or blew something up, but because they're building apartments.

What a Barnum and Bailey world.

6. You deflect from the truth exceedingly well, Jim.

Our interests, and I mean that of the USA's - I'm not sure whose interests you are referring to, aren't being suited when Israel lies to us, aren't being suited when Israel wants to grab more land, aren't being suited when Israel flattens Gaza for the umpteenth time and aren't being suited when Israel spies on us.

Explain what a supposedly Democratic Israel would like if their hands weren't tied.

Gee, the USA gets to condemn them and still give the Israelis 3 billion yearly. What a great deal.

:sarcasm:

I could not think of a better condemnation for Israel than to shut them off of all US treasure or military aid until they started acting like part of the international community.

What a Barnum and Bailey world. Yes. The Israelis, and their fawning supporters, should stop acting like it is a circus and start acting like adults.

But before you try and label me as an antiSemite...

I don't support terrorism. I don't support Palestinian terrorists or Israeli terrorists.

I do, however, support that idea that it is time for a Palestinian homeland.
