Israel 'to defy Barack Obama' over settlements

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, will convene an emergency session of his cabinet on Friday amid signs that the Jewish state was strengthening its defiance of the United States.

3. Nor all that much, to the US

US aid to Israel runs into the hundreds and possibly thousands of dollars per head per year if you look at it per Israeli head, but is only about $10 per year (to within an order of magnitude) per American citizen.

I think that there are many excellent reasons to cut of US aid to Israel, but the amount it costs the US is not high on the list.
