Poll: Obama gets thumbs down on Israel
Washington (CNN) - Only a third of Americans approve of the way President Obama's handling the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, according to a new national poll.

A Quinnipiac University survey released Thursday morning indicates that 35 percent of the public gives the president a thumbs up on how he's dealing with the situation between Israel and the Palestinians, with 44 percent saying they disapprove, and just over one in five unsure.

This stands in contrast with how Americans feel about Obama's overall handling of foreign policy, with 48 percent approving and 42 percent saying they disapprove.

According to the poll, two-thirds of Jewish voters disapprove of how the president's handling Israeli-Palestinian relations, with 28 percent saying they approve. Jewish voters were big backers of Obama in the 2008 presidential election, with exit polls indicating that nearly eight of ten backed the Democratic candidate.

2. Uh huh. Mollycoddling israel will only lead to further death and destruction to the
innocents in the Middle East, particularly those under Israeli imprisonment.

But my dissatisfaction gets lumped in with those who think he is being too tough (give me a fucking break!).

The sooner we cut loose that parasite state, the better off all of us will be.

9. Wrong again shira 2/3 do not disapprove
the numbers were brought down by extreme Republican disapproval with only 15% approving not quite 2/3 of Democrats 59% approve of the way Obama is handling Israel and the Palestinians

11. Another interesting finding from that poll
82 percent of Democrats say they approve of Obama's handling of foreign policy, whereas only 59 percent of Democrats say they approve of Obama's handling of the I/P situation.

What accounts from that 23 percent discrepancy between those Democrats in this poll?

My question is - what do the Democrats who approve of Obama's foreign policy but not his policy with respect to I/P think he ought to be doing in regards to the conflict?

16. The poll gives no indication of that does it?
the answer to that would depend entirely upon the individual being asked

17. No it doesn't - that's why I was curious what folks thought
I wonder if those Democrats think he is being too harsh or too lenient or something else entirely (or perhaps a mix of all three).

I would love to see a more comprehensive poll that takes the pulse of Democrats on these issues.

13. Two-thirds of Jewish voters disapprove
I think that regardless of where one stands on I/P, there are a lot of problems with Obama's convoluted foreign policy towards Israel and the Palestinians. One could almost swear that Obama's policy is set by a committee of dysfunctional people. There is a lot of huff and puff, lofty words, and not much of anything else other than offending all the parties.

Now Rahm is quoted by Haaretz as saying the Administration is not in a hurry to put any peace plan on the table.

Rinse, lather, repeat!
