'Netanyahu not a real peace partner'

Abbas: We are negotiating with the US, not Israel.

The Palestinian Authority considers the US Administration, and not Israel, as its peace partner, PA President Mahmoud Abbas was quoted as saying over the weekend.

Abbas told US special envoy George Mitchell that the Palestinians don't believe that the government of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is not a real peace partner, according to Abbas Zaki, member of the Fatah Central Committee.

"President Abbas told Mitchell that the Israelis are no longer peace partners as much as the Americans are," Zaki told the London-based Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper.

Zaki added that Abbas asked Mitchell to present Washington's views about peace and not to wait for Israeli proposals.

"The Palestinian Authority is negotiating with Washington and not with Tel Aviv," he said.

...

Out of curiosity, is there anyone at DU who disagrees with this and thinks that the Palestinians do have a potential partner for peace in Netanyahu?

1. And in other news, water is still wet.
Expecting NuttyYahoo to be interested in peace would be like expecting Dick Cheney to be interested in solar power.

2. Does anyone actually think the Palestinians WANT a peace partner?
The answer is NO. Although many here PRETEND to think so, they're lying.

4. Nobody here PRETENDS to think so.
Those of us who are sympathetic to Palestinians sincerely believe that they want to end the conflict. Why would we think anything else?

And why do you hate these people so much? You'd do what they've done if you were in their position. They were never offered a better alternative by the Israeli government.

Do YOU think Nutty ever wanted peace? Why WOULD he want it, when peace would be the political death knell for both Likud and Beitenyu?

The Palestinians have NEVER been given a real offer that could give them a state, because you can only build a Palestinian state if you have all the West Bank. NO state anywhere else in the world is bisected repeatedly by swathes of another state.
