Ahmadinejad: U.S. orchestrated 9/11 to save Zionist regime

The United States government orchestrated the 9/11 attacks in order to save the "Zionist regime", Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Thursday.

The U.S. and several European delegations left shortly after Ahmadinejad made the remarks.

A theory about 9/11, Ahmadinejad said, was "that some segments within the U.S. government orchestrated the attack to reverse the declining American economy, and its grips on the Middle East, in order to save the Zionist regime."
