UN: Israelis "Executed" US Citizen Furkan Dogan

Furkan Dogan, a 19-year-old US citizen of Turkish descent, was aboard the Mavi Marmara when he was killed by Israeli commandos.

The report of the fact-finding mission of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) on the Israeli attack on the Gaza flotilla released last week shows conclusively, for the first time, that US citizen Furkan Dogan and five Turkish citizens were murdered execution-style by Israeli commandos.

The report reveals that Dogan, the 19-year-old US citizen of Turkish descent, was filming with a small video camera on the top deck of the Mavi Marmara when he was shot twice in the head, once in the back and in the left leg and foot and that he was shot in the face at point blank range while lying on the ground.

The fact that the Israelis refused to cooperate with the investigative commisssion is telling.
The report states that conclusively the 5 people were killed excution-style by the Israelis. The evidence supports that conclusion. The White House has all the information but is doing nothing about it claiming it would be disruptive to ongoing negotiations.
I am sickened and outraged that this is being swept under the rug. No faith in this government that my rights as a citizen would be neglected if something similar happened to me.

9. On of my friends was on the Mavi Marmara.

He was running around with a camera just like the others. He helped carry a dead body to the emergency room.

Since he is a white Norwegian he was given some special attention in the prison. The guards wanted to talk to him to find out why he was on the boat. Despite his biggest efforts, he could not convince them that he was an atheist doing this as a humanitarian thing. They were sure he had converted to Islam and was there because he was an anti semite.

One of the guards also mentioned that he thought Norway was very nice and that he would like to move there, but that he could not because he was a jew. He was certain he would be killed.

Thats the frame of mind some of these people are in, and it really opened his eyes. Hes writing a book about his experiences now.

He was originally on a small Canadian boat, but it, and its sister boat were probably sabotaged by Israeli agents while in port. They both lost steering and started taking on water at the same time a while after departure. So they were taken onto the big Turkish boat with some 600 activists. He understood right away that it could end badly, because these people were prepared to use violence against boarding soldiers. They had organized a first line defence along the rail. He told me later that the worst part was not being allowed to phone home or contact the embassy while in captivity in the Negev. He has a wife and kid at home. Essentially the Israelis are punishing the families of the activists by not letting them know whether they are alive or dead. It's also a breach of a bunch of international treaties to refuse access to diplomats.
Every activist was made to sign a letter confirming that they had entered Israel illegally. I think Espen and a few others refused.

He also told me about an Italian reporter who made a fuzz in the bus at Ben Gurion where they were sat for hours on end waiting to board the planes. He had to take a leak, but the Israelis refused. He opened his fly and threatened to do it in the bus and they let him do it. They gave him some payback later as they were walking either through the terminal or on the tarmac, im not sure. He was hit over the head by security people, fell to the ground with blood gushing from his head and dragged away. He still does not know what happened to him.


Dont know if this link works in the us, but it's a documentary made by the Norwegian national broadcaster that follows my friend on the ship. The Norwegian tv crew pulled out due to safety concerns and asked a Serb journalist to follow Espen around. This is just about the only footage available, no idea how the Serb guy got the film out of there. Everything else was thrown overboard. There's also an english spoken interview with the IDF and a very passive-agressive PR person.
