Settlers torch, vandalize Nablus school
NABLUS (Ma'an) -- A group of Israeli settlers broke into an all girls' school in the Nablus districton Wednesday, setting fire to its storehouse containing furniture and unused sports equipment, the headmistress said.

Maysoon Sawalha said the cleaning woman at the school in As-Sawiya village arrived to find the lock on the main door broken as well as that of the storehouse, and all its contents were torched.

The fire did not spread to the rest of school because the water main is located in the storehouse, she said, adding that "otherwise the whole school would have been set on fire."

Settlers wrote racist slogans on the school's walls, including "regards from the hilltops," she added.

1. Yeah, the hatred only goes one way.
Israelis hate Arabs but those Arabs just love Israelis. And Israeli apartments only come with BOMB SHELTERS because the Arabs love them so much and would never ever harm them.

Please stop pretending this crap is one-sided or without vast ugly experience behind it on both sides.

2. So show me where Palestinians, or the subhumans, or Ayrabs or however you characterize them,
torched an Israeli school and scrawled racist hate slogans, and destroyed their means of livelihood in recent years. And show me when recently imported insane zealots who were not Jewish were given state authority and assistance to set up settlements in Israel, torch the nearby schools and orchards, and get a pass and protection.

3. Will reserve judgement about who is responsible...
until hard evidence surfaces...there is none at the link.

4. One can't stop something one hasn't started.
Of course many of the Palestinians hate the Israelis - they have ample just cause to hate Israel, and while they emphatically don't have just cause to hate all Israelis I imagine that when you've been driven out of your home or had your livelihood destroyed it's very hard to limit your hatred to the large majority who supported that move and not the minority who didn't.

Israeli appartments come with bomb shelters because a) Israel is a rich, powerful nation full of people who can afford bomb shelters, and b) Israelis have been whipped up into a frenzy of fear about Arab terror, despite the minimal threat it poses to them.

"Peace through ending the hatred" is a pipe dream - the Palestinians will go on hating the Israelis for a couple of generations after Israel stops giving them fresh causes to do so, and there is no sign of that happening any time soon. The only game in town is "imposed peace between two peoples who hate one another, but agree to refrain from violence". "Building bridges" and the like are no use; the only route to peace is for the US to put pressure on Israel through threatening to suspend aid, apply economic sanctions etc.

5. This post demonstrates a complete lack of understanding with respect to life in Israel
Firstly, most Palestinians have not been "drive out of their home" by Israel. In many cases their grandparents or greatgrandparents had, but certainly that can be said for many Israelis as well.

There is no reason why "peace through ending the hatred" needs to be a pipe dream. Think of what happened during WWII and look at the geopolitical reality today.

Can you really write that Israelis have been "whipped up into a frenzy of fear about Arab terror despite the minimal threat it poses to them" with a straight face?

That is staggering to me.

6. Terrorism doesn't pose a significant threat to anyone, anywhere in the West, including Israel.
Deaths from terrorism generate an awful lot of publicity, but there are never very many of them.

Israelis would benefit immeasurably more from spending their money on road safety or health care or avoiding one of the other things that actually kills large numbers of people than on bomb shelters.
