Security forces have recently arrested an Israeli Arab in northern Israel who is suspected of collaborating with Hamas and committing various security offenses.
The Haifa District Court on Wednesday served an indictment against the 26-year-old Amsalem Amin Meri, a resident of the Israeli Arab town of Fureidis.
Meri is suspected of being recruited to the Hamas movement by a friend who he met during his studies in the Islamic University in Hebron. The two were members of the Hamas student movement in the university.
According to the indictment, Meri was asked to transfer materials in order to create explosives, as well as recruit other Israeli Arabs for military operations. Moreover, Meri was asked by Hamas to locate crowded places for potential terror attacks, and to aid in bringing in a suicide bomber into Israeli territory.
