WASHINGTON (JTA) -- More than a thousand members of the pro-Israel NORPAC lobbied Congress, discussing assistance to Israel and the Palestinians and sanctions on Iran.
NORPAC, a national pro-Israel political action committee based in New Jersey, held over 470 meetings during its action day on Capitol Hill, April 6. Its members asked for assistance to Israel to continue at current levels, called for aid to the Palestinians to be linked to action on incitement and favored tougher sanctions on Iran.
The major talking point was to press for aid to Israel to remain at the pledged level of $3 billion.
Most members of both parties are committed to those levels, but lobbies across the board are taking pre-emptive action at a time when the Republican-led U.S. House of Representatives is pushing for less spending overall.
