As Anti-Israel Ads Hit D.C. Metros, The Israel Project to Run Pro-Peace Ads on TV
Washington, May 14 - A coalition of organizations, including Sabeel and the Washington Interfaith Alliance for Middle East Peace, has launched a region-wide ad campaign, in which 100 “End U.S. Aid to Israel” billboards are appearing in Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) metro cars. Cars traveling through Washington and the suburbs of Virginia and Maryland are carrying the placards, which will continue to show anti-Israel messages when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and thousands of AIPAC visitors are in Washington. Netanyahu will meet with President Obama on May 20, address the AIPAC annual convention on May 23, and speak to a joint session of Congress on May 24.

The metro ad runs contrary to the wishes of American voters, who, in a recent national survey, overwhelmingly said the U.S. should support Israel.

Meanwhile, The Israel Project, a nonprofit educational organization whose motto is “Facts for a Better Future,” will run a TV ad campaign in Washington beginning May 19. One of the ads will highlight Israel’s hope for peace and efforts to build a more prosperous future for Palestinians and Israelis. The second ad will be announced soon. TIP TV ads will run hundreds of times on CNN, CNN Headline News, FOX News, MSNBC and other networks in the Washington region during Netanyahu’s visit. The peace ad spotlights former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Netanyahu by drawing from their recent speeches in Washington.

Said Jennifer Laszlo Mizrahi, founder and president of The Israel Project, “As Palestinian leaders have created increasing cause for concern, we must still celebrate that Israel is a democracy that respects all faiths and is working for peace and a better future for all. Recently, however, Palestinian moderate leader President Mahmoud Abbas signed a deal with Iran-backed Hamas. This was a major setback for peace.”

1. Why is an ad calling for an end to aid to Israel
"anti-Israeli"? I am against such aid, but I favor an Israeli state.

The two aren't mutually exclusive and one of the problems with the framing of the debate is that some Israelis and Zionist see things in "you're either with us or against us" terms.

Just because I criticize Israeli policy, like I do many nations, doesn't mean I am against the state of Israel.

I would unrecommend this for that flagrant lack of logic and reactionary stance if I could.

Peace,
Tex Shelters

2. I agree. Anti-Israeli vs pro-peace is rather like baby killers vs. Godly Christians

3. "Anti-Israel" apparently means being against the wanton slaughter of Palestinians.

4. The article title is a testament to a couple of the principles of TIP
first control the dialogue

second associate Israel with the positive and 'those others' with the negative hence antiIsrael and ProPeace

it should also be noted that these principles are in large part the creation of Republican strategist Frank Luntz
