Palestinian, 18, shot dead; would-be bomber kills himself

A suicide bomber blew himself up in the northern West Bank yesterday, killing or injuring no one other than himself.

In another incident yesterday, an 18-year-old Palestinian was killed by Israel Defense Forces gunfire.

The suicide bomber blew himself up in the village of Jinesfut, near the settlement of Kedumim. The Israel Defense Forces had received a warning about plans to send a suicide bomber from Nablus toward the Green Line, and soldiers had therefore been deployed on all the roads leading toward Israel since the morning.

The bomber apparently saw the army patrol jeep that was being used as a temporary roadblock at the exit to Jinesfut and panicked, blowing himself up when he was still 100 meters away from the soldiers.
