U.S. court rules Palestinian-born man spied for Saddam
CHICAGO - A Palestinian-born newspaper publisher who spied on Iraqi exiles on behalf of Saddam Hussein has been convicted of lying to the U.S. government and with not registering as a foreign agent.

After a week-long trial, a federal jury Monday convicted Khaled Dumeisi, 61, of crimes that carry a maximum 10-year prison sentence. He was not charged with stealing U.S. government secrets or with any crimes related to terrorism.

Prosecutors said Dumeisi was paid for his spying on Iraqi dissidents who were living in the United States. They said he was inspired mostly by his belief that Saddam would help the Palestinians and by his hatred of Israel.

Interesting motive. I wonder why he thought that?

I am asking that myself as well.

They said he was inspired mostly by his belief that Saddam would help the Palestinians

If nobody is supporting the Palestinians, then I guess the only people left that will are dictators.

2. Contributions
It seems like contributions were flowing in from resources all over the world. The Holy Land Charity and others. Saddam is gone, and lots of the resources from the EU to groups like Hamas are being cut off. Guess it's going to be difficult to continue with the suicide bomber payments.
