ARAFAT'S RADIO BLESSES WOMAN BOMBER
http://www.imra.org.il/story.php3?id=19430

In an unprecedented show of support for a human bomb attack, Yasser Arafat's official radio greeted with elation the news of latest suicide assault in the Gaza Strip.

"Citizen Rim al-Riyashi was heroically martyred when she carried out an explosive operation at the Beit Hanoun Junction , killing four soldiers of the Occupation," declared Voice of Palestine Radio in its 4-PM newscast, about an hour after the attack in the Gaza Strip.

The style of the news item, which opened the afternoon news round-up, was more like a birthday greeting than a regular news report, stressing the woman's identity and "heroic martyrdom" (Arabic: istish-haad)repeatedly.

There was no mention that she was a member of the Islamic terror group known as HAMAS (Haraka al-Muqawwima al-Islamiyya: Islamic Resistance Front).

Arafat's VOP radio said Israel was to blame for the attack, and it offered no condemnation for the assault at the Gaza crossing point which also serves as a place of employment and access into Israel for Palestinian laborers.

4. Hateful propaganda from the PA media should stop...
Edited on Wed Jan-14-04 09:17 PM by Darranar
the failure of the PA to stop it is a good example of their incompetence, corruption, and lack of care for both the Israeli people and the Palestinian people.

6. uhh...Darranar ??
propaganda is when you sell something you know is a lie and
pass it off as truth.

After posting endless hate-filled vile shit from PA media,
they really believe it.

7. Hamas reasoning
The motive for Hamas to send the suicide attacker into Israel (she didn't get past the check-point) was that Israel would then close the crossing gates, sealing of Gaza. When that happens, Hamas gains support among the Gaza residents.

Tighten the noose is what they want to increase hatred of Israel.

The death of the soldiers is more heroic, because had not this woman been stopped at the check-point, she would have found a crowded civilian market to detonate herself.

9. I agree. Clearly, this choice of target was to shut down the checkpoint,
and make it more difficult for Palestinians to work in Israel.

14. It is not
This whole 'fair and balanced' thing is one of the hardest things to do. Generally the media believe (the more serious media, which excludes Fox and state controlled Arab stations) that by presenting commentary on both sides of an issue a 'fair and balanced' view can be provided.

Say there is a discussion as to whether the earth is round or flat. 'Fair and balanced' to them would mean that they would find a scientist that could provide ample evidence that it is round. However, to present the other side of the issue they feel they have to invite some nutcase that will warn you not to fall off at the edges.

So judging what is fair and balanced is often very hard when it comes to matters more complicated than the shape of the earth.

But I agree that the state controlled media have little credibility. However, IMHO Al-Jazeerah although largely financed by a member of the leadership of a state, represents an exception.

Should you be wondering why the laughter, see below:

"However, IMHO Al-Jazeerah although largely financed by a member of the leadership of a state, represents an exception."

Fox News is the US version of Al-Jazeerah.

17. Al-Jazeerah
is highly critical of Arab leadership. They have some sort of program on once a week called 'Pro and Contra' (I am translating liberally here) that is little more than Arab leadership bashing, even though the debate is about various issues.

That is a far cry from 'Hannity and Colmes' (is this the name of this garbage?)

18. Ok, Dr.Don
since pictures floate your boat, see MINE taken in Rafah on Dec. 25th: http://www.mepeace.com/addons/rafah.html

Pictures are always a powerfule image but necessarily representative of the pseudo-academic nature of this forum.

I can show you a hundred pictures of the one above. (Well, in reality I only took a few but saw hundreds).

Is it representative of the mom in the street that held her three-year-old in a refugee camp and proundly told me about her two sons in college?

No, it isn't.

It is representative of rage, unrest, fear and hopelessness.

Have you ever done anything highly unrational in a state of mental distress? My hats off to you if you haven't.

If you lived in this place you would do even more unrational things.

WHY DOESN"T ANYBODY EVER TRY TO UNDERSTAND HUMAN NATURE?

Are the Palestinian or Israelis animals?
