Israeli ambassador says Swedish press is pro-Arab
http://sify.com/news/fullstory.php?id=13366049

<snip>

"Israel's ambassador to Sweden, who has caused a full-scale diplomatic row over an art installation, said Tuesday part of his motivation was an anti-Israeli stance by the Swedish governing party and the country's press."

<snip>

"The Social Democracy in this country is pro-Arab," he said in an interview with AFP. "There are many voices which are pro-Islamic and anti-Israeli. We've got a problem." Mazel said Persson, a Social Democrat, was an exception, "the good man", but "the party is big".

"Everything Israel does is bad. When you read the press in Sweden, Israel is always the bad guy. The press in Sweden is completely anti-Israeli," he said. Dubbed "Snow White and the Madness of Truth" and exhibited at Stockholm's Museum of National Antiquities, the artwork showed a tiny sailboat floating on a pool of red water. Attached to the boat was a smiling photo of a female bomber, Hanadi Jaradat, who killed 21 Israelis at a restaurant in northern Israel in October."

<snip>

"His act was also motivated by anger at the Swedish press for attributing the "scapegoat" role to Israel for problems in the Middle East. "I'm accustomed to it, but when I saw a creation which is meant to be a glorification of terror, of suicide bombings, I could not hold myself back," he said. "I'm not saying, absolutely not, that this country is anti-Semitic. But what I'm saying is that there is a very strong Muslim anti-Semitism, and Jews are being harassed by Muslims everywhere. In schools, in the street, in the metro, everywhere," he said."

1. The same old excuses
Edited on Tue Jan-20-04 01:22 PM by bluesoul
whenever one can't deal with his own actions (vandalism) and gets rightly critisized for it. Then everyone is suddenly "anti-semitic". This word has become so misused lately, that one won't notice if there is actualy something to it among all the misused. That's sad enough...

7. if he is really concerned
that Israel is always viewed as the bad guy, maybe he can help to end Israel's terrorist aggression against Palestinian civilians.

(what do you think the chances of that happening are?)

2. The construction of a very wide Peace Fence between Sweden and Israel

will require the demolition of millions of homes, but is clearly a necessity since the two are separated by fewer than fifty countries,

The IDF may need to move ahead with that plan to lower the draft age to 12.

On the plus side, this could be the biggest bulldozer order in Caterpilar's history.

3. So he believes he has the right
to tell the privately-owned Swedish press how to report the news?

6. Worse than that
Don't agree 100% with the Likud's position, you are an anti-semite, even if you are in fact Jewish

See:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/elsewhere/journalist/story/0,7792,1126294,00.html

"Jewish activists opposing the Israeli government's policies face intimidation and harassment via email and on the internet."

8. Shocking!
"The press in Sweden is completely anti-Israeli."

Mr Mazel is doing his best to change it into completely pro -Israeli.
