Expulsion of Palestinian with son in IDF postponed
A Palestinian married to a Jewish woman, with a son serving in the Israel Defense Forces, will not be expelled to the territories for another month, pending a High Court of Justice hearing, according to the state's reply to a petition filed against the expulsion on Friday.

The state's answer delays the urgent hearing that was supposed to take place Sunday, leaving in place the temporary injunction issued when the petition was filed.

Tul Karm resident Adel Hussein filed the petition against the Ministry of the Interior's intention to expel him to the territories and denying him an Israeli citizenship or permanent resident status.

Hussein was married for 25 years to Stella Peretz, a Jewish Israeli woman. The couple for many years lived in the West Bank city of Tul Karm. They were divorced seven years ago, and Peretz moved to the southern Israeli town of Dimona with their son Muhammad, whose name was changed to Yossi.

Interesting case.
