"The Palestinians are to hold a national day of protest against Israel's controversial separation barrier to mark the start of a hearing by the international court into the project's legality, official media said Monday.

During a meeting on Sunday evening chaired by veteran leader Yassser Arafat, the executive committee of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) decided to proclaim February 23 as "a national day against the Israeli aggressions and the wall of Apartheid and annexation," according to a statement by the Wafa News Agency.

The Palestinian leadership also called for a mobilisation by the Arab and in ternational community "against the continued construction of the wall, which is a prelude to (Israeli Prime Minister Ariel) Sharon's unilateral separation plan."
