Palestinian journalists protest Fatah attacks
Alarmed by a rise in the number of attacks on journalists, the Palestinian Journalists' Syndicate and human rights groups have once again appealed to the Palestinian Authority to take stiff measures against perpetrators.

The journalists are also planning a one-day strike later this week to protest against the attacks, all of which have been carried out by Fatah gunmen.

The most recent attacks took place last week in Ramallah and Gaza City. In the first case, three masked Palestinian gunmen carrying AK-47 assault rifles stormed the offices of the Ramallah-based Al-Quds Educational Television.

Assistant manager Haroun Abu Arrah, one of two station employees present at the time, told the Committee for the Protection of Journalists that one of the men demanded that he hand over a tape. When Abu Arrah asked for clarification, the gunmen began beating the two staffers with rifle butts and fists.

1. More on this story - Palestinian journalists protest restrictions

Some 200 Palestinian journalists in the Gaza Strip staged a one-day strike on Monday to protest against increased attacks on their colleagues and newspapers. They refrained from reporting on instances in which Palestinians were killed in clashes with the IDF.

On Tuesday, the journalists are scheduled to stage a sit-in strike outside the offices of the Palestinian Legislative Council in Gaza City to demand that the Palestinian Authority take stiff measures against the perpetrators.

The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate decided to form a committee that would meet with PA officials to brief them on the recurring attacks on its members. The journalists said they would pressure the PA to pursue the investigation against those responsible for the campaign of terror and intimidation.

Palestinian journalists in the West Bank and Gaza Strip have been subjected to a series of assaults over the past few months.

2. Palestinians target journalists?
That doesn't sound like something progressives can get behind.

Maybe, just maybe, it is possible to support the idea of a Palestinian State without supporting the targetting of journalists.

4. Don't bother kicking this thread
The non responses just about say all you might have expected. However should it be found that the bullets used were Israeli made, well you get the picture.

note:
sarcasm for the those missing it.
