Amman: Israeli raid violated peace treaty

Jordanian central bank chief says Israeli raid on Palestinian branches of Jordanian banks violates peace treaty.

AMMAN - An Israeli raid on Palestinian branches of Jordanian banks and the seizure of millions of dollars broke the peace treaty between Israel and Jordan, Jordanian central bank governor Omaya Tuqan was quoted Friday as saying.

"The Israeli raid against the branches of the Arab Bank and the Cairo-Amman Bank constitutes a violation of the Israeli-Jordanian agreement which specifies that there should be no harm done to Jordanian interests," the governor told the Jordanian daily Al Rai.

Wednesday's raid in the West Bank city of Ramallah, which also targetted the International Palestinian Bank, was "unjustified legally," he added.

3. I think there were Jordanian, Egyptian, and PA banks
that got hit. There was a story that Qurie said that PA
was supposed to get inquiries before this was done, too.
I have not seen anything from Egypt yet, other than the
bizarre stories Zhade just posted about Peres and Hosni
chumming it up and the proposed "reform" of the Arab league
to fend off Shrub's "democracy" initiative.
