Saudi crown prince tells Austrian leaders not to link terror and Islam
Terrorism and the Middle East peace process topped the agenda at talks between Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, the Gulf kingdom's de facto ruler, and Austrian leaders, the Austrian presidency said.

Prince Abdullah, who is on a three-day state visit to Austria, told President Thomas Klestil and Chancellor Wolfgang Schuessel that Islam was "a religion of peace, of love and of tolerance," the presidency said.

"Terrorists who spill blood are but a tiny minority sidelined for sins which have nothing to do with Islam and Muslims," he added.

At a press conference after bilateral meetings on Thursday, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal told journalists: "Both sides expressed great concern about the practices of Israel in the occupied territories."

He singled out "targetted assassinations" for criticism, in a veiled reference to the assassination of Hamas spiritual leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin 10 days ago."These practices have scuttled the peace process. This was done in the hope of creating new realities and making new negotiations futile," he said.

1. Well Don
Is Islam a religion of hate by default? Being a Muslim makes one automatically evil? If you don't agree with such views then the Saudi Prince is right. If you do, well then, we do have a problem...

2. Anytime you mention Islamic terrorism, these arab leaders
automatically bring up Israel in order to deflect the attention. Saudi Arabia, Pakistan (and CIA) financed and trained Bin Laden and Al Queda yet somehow Israel is responsible for this terrorism, lol.

3. UHHH....
I pointed out what i thought was funny. He bemoans the killing
of Yassin but does say word one about the mindless suicide
bombing....priceless by the CLOWN prince.

Heres an idea....perhaps you can stop accusing me of things
I have neither said nor implied.

4. Bluesoul injects Israel into every one of his discussions.
Edited on Sat Apr-03-04 07:18 AM by smartass
I find it ridiculous and obsene to defend a mass murderer like Yassin.

5. Where did I defend Yassin?!?!
And this is the I/P dude, so Israel has much to do with it (like the occupation of Palestinian territories).

I could say the same that you defend Sharon and his policies following your logic. And I probably wouldn't be that far from the truth either based on your posts...

10. I haven't defended Sharon's strategies. I believe that there needs to be a
peace process with an honest peace broker. I felt Clinton was doing a good job with bringing the sides together but Dubya has fubarred everything up.

17. We defend the rule of law
We are defending Yassin only as an extension of our defense of the rule of law. I mean you defend the extrajudicial assassination of Yassin because you consider him a murderer. But if we allow the precedent that Israel is allowed to murder anyone they deem a murderer, who knows how far it will go? Personally, I don't want to find out.

20. States are allowed to defend themselves
Israel arrested that bastard once and was forced to let him go in a prisoner exchange. This time there is no Yassin to let go.

12. Saudi royals are the most corriupt rulers of the planet. Worse than Bush.
They're suddenly 'concerned' about the plight of the Palestinians in the West Bank. What about your sponsorship of Al-qaeda, Prince Abdullah? What about your telethon for suicide bombers? What about the fifteen hijackers that came from your nation? What about the money from fake 'charities' that flows from your country? What about your brutal oppression of women? Your autocratic, totalitarian, theocracy? This guy is directly responsible for the deaths of thousands of people, and he's complaining about the poor Palestinians in the West Bank? Screw him.

13. good post, but, a little understated for my taste...
saudi royals are some of the most overfed, overindulged, overrated, overasskissed, and overwrapped turds to ever waste oxygen and who have no legitimate right to lecture anyone with their steaming piles of hypocritical and useless blather...

here's hoping the saudi royals are doomed next...

"Islam was "a religion of peace, of love and of tolerance,""
but coming out of Crown Prince Abdullah's mouth?!?
Saudi Arabia? Where they hate women, Jews, Christians and other Muslims less fanatic than they are? Give me a break!
