Love-in at the White House
Love-in at the White House

Mr George W. Bush is a determined man. He wishes above all, following the orders of his neo-conservative backers, to destabilise the whole of the world. This gives them even greater opportunities to make colossal profits at the cost of countless human lives. Nothing has shown this more clearly than the manner in which he has received his recent visitors.

He greeted President Hosni Moubarak in a friendly enough fashion, but it seems certain that he did not let him know that he was about to make a radical change in the declared policy of the U.S.A. towards the Arab states, and beyond that the whole Muslim world. Mr Moubarak had been tricked into thinking that he could rely on backing in the extremely delicate situation in which he and all other Arab rulers find themselves if they trust in receiving even a minute portion of impartiality and justice from the administration of the U.S.A.

Next, we see the self-confessed murderer, Mr Ariel Sharon, greeted as a "bosom friend" and described as a "courageous leader" for his proposition to annex vast swathes of Palestinian land, thus reducing any future Palestinian puppet state to absolute dependence on his "ethnically pure" régime. If one looks at his proposals with a map of the Holy Land before one, it is evident that Mr Sharon's proposals are copied from the "Bantustan" system so ruthlessly enforced in South Africa. His vision of an "independent Palestinian state" is of small widely separated parcels of land in the West Bank, deprived of all major water resources and having to try to govern the arid and overcrowded Gaza Strip. Part of his plan, as made public, goes so far as to include cutting the Gaza Strip off from its present common frontier with Egypt - so much for any friendliness towards President Moubarak! It and the patches of land in the West Bank left in Palestinian hands would form a series of concentration camps, so beloved of the Nazis whom Mr Sharon tries so hard to emulate.

This change in the declared policy of the U.S.A. has only one potential virtue in that it must now have opened the eyes of all rulers (anywhere in the world) who have trusted in the "friendship" of the U.S.A. to understand that they cannot trust the Bush régime to keep faith on any single point, whenever this terrifyingly corrupt administration decides that its electoral interest depends on acting against all decent values and the most elementary tenets of justice..........
