Entire Palestinian cabinet may resign
Entire Palestinian cabinet may resign

Ahmad Quraya: 'The resignation is under discussion'

Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmad Quraya has said his cabinet is considering a mass resignation to protest against a shift in US policy that favours Israel and violates Palestinian rights.

Quraya said on Wednesday this was one of several proposals being weighed in response to US assurances to Israel that it could retain some West Bank settlements and that Palestinian refugees would not resettle in the Jewish state in a final peace treaty.

"The resignation issue is one of the issues under discussion within the Palestinian Authority and the leadership," Quraya told Reuters at his office in the West Bank village of Abu Dis.

"But until then, the government will continue to work normally," Quraya said.

A mass resignation or cancellation of the prime minister's post would place full powers in President Yasir Arafat's hands, a move that may deteriorate US-Palestinian relations......

1. The U.S. and Israel apparently haven't realized yet that...
other countries, including the ones they directly affect, may not like everything they do.

2. So what
This cabinet is one of a terrorist nature. It doesn't matter what goes on in it. Arafat is still the terrorist leader heading a dictatorship.

8. I am not the one
I am not the one saying he was elected. Give me evidence showing he was elected fair and square, in a democratic fashion.

11. OK, want proof
Want proof he is a dictator? Want proof this is a dictatorship?

There is no freedom under the Palestinian Authority. Opposition is stifled.

18. Israel does too
Edited on Thu Apr-22-04 07:52 PM by Classical_Liberal
It is called the death penalty and it does apply to TREASON. The french resistance did that too, and so did Israel when it was fighting for independence from Britain. So no I don't see how the Palestinians are any worse than any other resistence movement, in this respect.

17. Nope
Israel is a functioning democracy. Arabs in Israel, under Jewish rule, have more rights than if they lived under Arab rule.

15. Arafat isn't a nazi.

.

That is really over the top. He is a representative of a displaced people, who has employed unethical war tactics, not a white supremicist with the most powerful military machine known to man.

14. Did you sleep thru 1996?
Specifically the month of January?

Google Yassir Arafat elected to presidency of executive authority of palestinian council.

Then you'll have your election results.
