Experts: Israel is still producing nukes
AP , VIENNA, AUSTRIA
Friday, Apr 23, 2004,Page 6

David Albright, director of the Institute for Science and International Security

Experts said Wednesday that Israel continues to produce atomic weapons and may already have as many as 300 warheads, as the country released a man imprisoned for 18 years for leaking nuclear secrets.

Because Israel is not party to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty, the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has no power to look into its nuclear program, which has been shrouded in secrecy for decades.

The UN agency, however, is seeking dialogue with Israel, and Director-General Mohamed ElBaradei repeatedly has called for talks on the establishment of a zone free of weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East.

3. You seem to have misunderstood.
The article involved Israel NUKES (that's missles and bombs).

Iran is another issue. Unless, that is, you're open to the suggestion that Iran might claim it *needs* nukes as a countermeasure to Israel's nukes (remember MAD - the US vs. Soviet policy of co-extermination?).

That, BTW, is the problem with proliferation.

Oh that's right, Israel refused to sign the non-proliferation treaty.

Sillly ol' me.

4. Who knows....
but we know 1) its there, 2) was provided by the Russians, 3) being
used for electricity.
As to whether or not uranium is being enriched and whether nukes
are being made...who knows. No Vanunu.

Israel is a rogue nation...it has WMDs....it hasn't signed the
non-proliferation treaty... It has the US UN veto vote in the UN.
