Yigal Amir appeals for conjugal visits with his fiance

Yigal Amir, who murdered prime minister Yitzhak Rabin, appealed Monday to the Supreme Court against a lower court ruling denying him conjugal visits with his fiance, Larissa Trimbobler.
Two weeks ago, Tel Aviv District Court denied Amir his right to conjugal visits, but the court has not yet taken a stand on his request to marry.
District Court Judge David Bar-Ophir agreed with the prosecution that conjugal visits do not fall under the category of an "absolute right," but rather constitute a perk given at the discretion of the head of the prison. Furthermore, Amir is viewed as a "security prisoner," a status which greatly limits the prisoner, and plays a significant part in the decision whether to grant him these visits or not.
The standard procedure for security prisoners is that they may be granted a conjugal visit, as long as they receive a positive assessment from the Shin Bet security services. "But," said the judge, "his assessment not only worked against our ability to overlook normal protocol, it pointed out more reasons why Amir may pose a threat, even in his incarceration."......
