Prevents Palestinians from joining their Israeli-Arab spouses "The government has renewed, for another 6 months, the emergency regulations enacted last year to prevent marriages between Israeli Arabs and Palestinians.
The law differentiates between the country’s Jewish and non-Jewish populations. Spouses of Jewish citizens will be able, as before, to enter Israel with their Israeli partner and set up home together. Arab citizens marrying non-Israeli Arabs are denied that right, forcing the couple to choose between having to break the law, live apart, have the Israeli partner forfeit their Israeli citizenship and set up home in the PA territories, or seek asylum abroad.
Attorney General Mazuz hinted that the High court might strike down the regulation as racist and discriminatory, and suggested that the regulations be replaced by a law detailing the rights of Israelis marrying non-Israelis to set up home in Israel."

"Arabs held a protest demonstration against the regulation, saying it was nothing less than blatant racial discrimination illegal under both Israeli and international law."
