Hezbollah snipers kill two IDF soldiers on northern border
Two Israel Defense Forces soldiers were
killed Tuesday when Hezbollah snipers
fired at their military post on the
Israel-Lebanon border.

The snipers fired at the Nurit post, in
the western section of the border,
mortally wounding the two soldiers.
They died of their injuries a short time
later while being evacuated to hospital.

The two soldiers were fixing a problem
with the antenna of the base, when they
were spotted by the militant snipers,
who then opened fire.

The soldiers' families have been
informed of their deaths. The only
details released so far about their
identities are that one of the soldiers
was a career officer and the other was
on regular military service.

Not quite sure who fired first. This may not be the end of it this time..

Nasrallah is not a happy man today (his remarks at Awali's funeral makes that obvious), and on the other side Mofaz is sending more to the front. As of the last al-Manar report, helicopters and mortars were just beginning to involve themselves when the Islamic Resistance casualty was reported.. might be more to this later.

Apparently Hizbu'llah has intel.(or just suspicion) that the Awali/S.Beirut bomb was carried out by Zionist agents inside Lebanon using forged foreign passports, like those that the Mossad spies in NZ were trying to rangle up. Awali was the IR's ambassador to the Palestinians and has a very long history in Hizbu'llah's army (seized and held prisoner by the Israeli invaders for his resistance activity as early as '82, joined the newly formed 'Islamic Resistance' early on, distinguished himself across the years since then, retains a highly respected position, etc), so there is motive there if that was the case.

Early investigations say it bears the same trademarks as the bomb that martyred Saleh, which though not officially is generally credited to the Zionists (Dr.Pipes' propaganda rag, for example, produced an excellent study on Saleh and the motive/likelihood dots were easily and frankly connected in it).

Jund ash-Sham's amir (aside: sitting on a Vespa..) vigorously denied their so-called "credit" claim and placed themselves on the side of the Islamic Resistance (no small feat considering the great gulf between them). This all helps the obvious suspicion that it was probably the southern neighbor.

I meant to post some wrapup like this in the LBN thread from earlier, but I can't find it now.
