Rockets Deliver Daily Terror To Residents of Israeli Town
In the past four years, Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have fired more than 325 Qassam rockets at Jewish settlements within the strip and at Israeli towns on its periphery, according to Shin Bet, the Israeli intelligence agency. Few of the wildly inaccurate rockets have ever hit anyone or anything other than fields, empty lots or back yards. Most of the casualties associated with Qassam strikes have been patients treated for shock. But in the last 3 1/2 months, four Israelis have been killed, all of them in Sderot.

A little over two weeks ago, Israel launched its largest military operation in more than 2 1/2 years in an effort to stop the rocket attacks. Since the offensive began on Sept. 28, the fourth anniversary of the start of the current Palestinian uprising, Palestinians have launched nine Qassams toward Sderot. One killed two children.

"How much can the army really do to prevent them from firing?" Marco Mark, 43, a city employee, said on a recent afternoon as he finished his lunch at Burger Ranch, an Israeli fast-food restaurant. "The Palestinians will just fire from another place. We're living here in fear without any security."

1. Yea its unfortunate
That they don't have modern anti-tank and anti-aircraft missles so that they could fight back properly.

2. That is crappy rockets
325 rockets and only four dead? The IDF makes them look like amatuers when it comes to killing civilians.

Now THIS is how to kill innocent people;

115 Palestinians killed in Israel's Penitence operation

Now,if you really cared about dead innocents I'd expect to see you comment in that thread, yet oddly you must have missed it,it being right at the top of the forum and all.Of course,if only one set of dead people matter to you your absence makes perfect sense.

Sadly, your "outrage" seems as real as Lynne Cheney's.

3. So they almost know what an inch of Gaza feels like
minus the cemetaries for the martyrs with the 'Vacancy' lights dimmed..

They are just crappy rockets, which is why they don't have the body count the US-made rockets that fly in the other direction does. The resistance is working on improving the designs, but they do not yet add up to anything much more than a psychological operation at this point, with an occasionally freakish 'lucky accident'.

On the side I thank the Post for putting in print a matter which I have spoken of previously, curiously being disputed in such, and not-so-curiously misquoted as well. I don't expect or request a retraction on this fairly innocuous matter, for I expect nothing less from the sources in question.

Marco Mark, a citizen of Sderot, touches on a good point. What *can* the army do to stop the firings? In terms of punitive ops, not a fucking thing, actually. That's the beauty of cause->effect. Continued operations in fact provoke a higher rate of attempts just out of defiant principle; that defiance is not broken by an upsurge in aggressive measures, indeed quite the opposite. That is the case in general, and there is no pretty fix considering what is loosed. Fucked if you do or don't, and it's basically grin & bear it at best.. but something to consider anyway.

5. Multiply the numbers of rockets and the dead by 100,
and you may be able to appreciate what life is like for the
Palestinians.
