Hamas tells Straw it needs no lessons in democracy
Hamas on Wednesday lashed out at British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, accusing him of interfering in internal Palestinian affairs.

"In this respect I should like unequivocally to condemn Hamas for its attack and killing of five IDF soldiers and for its boycott of the Palestinian Authority presidential elections," he said.

"It is utterly cynical of Hamas to boycott these elections. I hope they hear the complete condemnation of not just people in this country but around the world. It would not even serve their real purpose which is trying to improve the lot of poor Palestinians were they to succeed in this disruption."

Hamas, in a statement issued in Gaza City, said it "disapproves of and condemns" Straw's statements.
"Hamas sees these remarks as a flagrant intervention in internal Palestinian affairs and does not need lessons about democracy from the British minister and others," the statement added.

9. Did I read that correctly...
Straw states that the "real purpose" of Hamas is "to improve the lot of poor Palestinians".

Now that's some red-ass meat dangling...
