PA frees 3 jailed for Stage bombing

The Palestinian Authority on Saturday released two men jailed in connection with the February 25 suicide bombing at the Stage club in Tel Aviv, in a bid to persuade Islamic Jihad to abide by the unofficial truce with Israel.

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, who met Islamic Jihad leaders in the Gaza Strip last Thursday, ordered the release as a conciliatory gesture to the radical group following a spate of rocket and mortar attacks on Israeli settlements and towns.

PA officials said the two Islamic Jihad activists, Sadiq Odeh and Jasser Kob, were released from a Palestinian prison in Jericho, where they were being held since February. The two men were released on condition that they stay in Jericho.
