Gaza doctor fumes over bomb plot at Soroka
As for Biss herself, she should have been a messenger for peace among her people, and should have been bringing flowers and appreciation to the Soroka doctors for healing her burns. Instead she targeted the very people who treated her with such compassion.

Israeli hospitals extend humanitarian treatment to Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and West Bank. These efforts continued when all other cooperation between Palestinians and Israelis came to a halt during the most recent intifada.

To plan an operation of this kind against a hospital is an act of evil. Children, women, patients, doctors and nurses were the target. Is this a reward for kindness? Is this an advertisement for Islam, a religion which respects and sanctifies human life? This is aggression and a violation of humanity.

-
Soroka is a hospital that has opened its doors to treat Palestinians without discrimination, offering the best care available. I want to tell my friends and colleagues at Soroka that all the Gaza residents I have spoken to have expressed their condemnation of this this evil and brainless act. At a time when we badly need to build bridges of trust and tolerance, Soroka is the only door left open when other hospitals are closed to Gaza residents.

1. It will get a LOT worse before it gets better...
Israel has pretty much finished the Apartheid Wall, and there are a lot of Palestinians feeling like concentration camp inhabitants. RW Israelis continue to build settlements on Palestinian land, 90% of all wells and aquiferfs are on the Israeli side of the wall, Palestinians continue to stike back against Israeli agression and atrocities with terrorist acts of their own...it's a pretty dismal situation...

More and more Palestinians are going to get more and more desparate...

"Guidelines for discussion of Israeli/Palestinian affairs

Our goal is to provide a forum where issues concerning Israel and Palestine may be discussed openly but intelligently in an atmosphere of mutual respect for opposing sides"

http://www.democraticunderground.com/forums/rules_detailed.html

"Bigotry and Broad-Brush Smears

When discussing race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, or other highly-sensitive personal issues, please exercise the appropriate level of sensitivity toward others and take extra care to clearly express your point of view.

Do not post messages that are bigoted against (or grossly insensitive toward) any person or group of people based on their race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, lack of religion, disability, physical characteristics, or region of residence.
~snip~
With regard to religion (or the lack thereof), Democratic Underground is a diverse community which includes Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, Atheists, Agnostics, and others. All are welcome here. For this reason, we expect members to make an extra effort to be sensitive to different religious beliefs, and to show respect to members who hold different religious beliefs. Members are permitted to discuss whether they agree or disagree with particular religious beliefs, provided that they do so in a relatively sensitive and respectful manner. But members should avoid posting broad-brush bigoted statements about people who hold specific religious beliefs. Members should avoid highly provocative postings, such as comparing religion to fairy tales or mental illness, or arguing that religion (or the lack thereof) is the source of most of the world's problems.

Inflammatory or Flame-Bait Discussion Topics

Do not post "flame bait" discussion topics. While there is no clear line regarding what constitutes flame bait, the moderators have the authority to shut down threads which they consider too rhetorically hot, too divisive, too extreme, or too inflammatory. Please use good judgment when starting threads; inflammatory rhetoric does not normally lead to productive discussion."

5. Other issues have been similarly milked in the IP Fora
Edited on Fri Jun-24-05 09:21 AM by Coastie for Truth
On this forum, it is very common for some appenders to “beat a dead horse.” By ay of example and not to single anyone out (for which I most profusely apologize in advance, meaning no offense), consider the train of threads on divestment, disinvestment, and economic boycott of Israel—

    1. started June 23, 2005

    2. started May 12, 2005.

    3. started February 21, 2005

    4.

However, it should be pointed out that the Arab League has carried out a boycott of not just Israel, but of Diasporas Jews – with a Jim Crow hiring freeze in their domestic (US) operations by some American businesses doing business in Arab League lands. See, the rendered by the prominent and respected Shearman and Sterling LLP law firm. Yet these same "boycotters of faith" have been deafeningly silent on this Jim Crow boycott.

No matter how idealistic these “Church” boycotts may be, they completely ignore the illegal Jim Crow hiring boycotts “imposed” on (and apparently willingly complied with by) major multi-national companies in a core industry.

8. You are quite welcome
I would like to see the "Church community" take some sort of stand on the Jim Crow policy(I have quite respectfully calling it "dhimmi" or "economic boycott) mandated by the Arab League Boycott Office - where a link to Israel can only be drawn by some sort of Nuremberg Law reasoning.

I am specifically speaking of the Jim Crow hiring boycott practiced by the oil companies - in their domestic operations.

I trust you are aware that this Jim Crow boycott is illegl under US domestic law - certainly as applied to US operations by domestic corporations as the linked legal opinion most clearly shows --> http://www.shearman.com/publications/arab_boycott.html| Arab League Revives Boycott Against Israel by Messers Shearman and Sterling LLP>

9. my point was the air of demonisation not the repetitiveness perse...
your examples show lively discussion between two different points of view on a subject, i agree they are repetitive and in some ways redundant.but that was not what i was trying to address..
i was just wondering how many "evil palestinian bomber" threads we need per "event" (i know thats the wrong word forgive me) with little actual l discussion of the event or its ramifications and what impression that leaves.
i would gladly discuss other issues their own threads so i hope you understand why i am not commenting on the content of your examples now.

10. I do not think you can dismiss the Arab League Boycott
(Jim Crow) poisonous effects so easily. If racial minorities had been the targets we Americans would have called it "Jim Crow" with divestments and picketing. But, the Arab League does not have a "lovable" target. So, no picketing, no divestments, no hand wringing by self appointed Progressives.

It's like the reporting of mssing teenage girls in the American media.
