Israel reports 'Syrian gunfire'
Israel reports 'Syrian gunfire'

The Israeli army has said its soldiers in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights came under fire from Syrian territory.

It said it did not return fire and none of its troops were injured. The army added that it had lodged a complaint with United Nations peacekeepers.

Syria rejected Israeli accusations, saying that young people had been setting off fireworks in the area.

Israel occupied the territory in the 1967 war, annexing it in 1981. The move was not internationally recognised.

"There was shooting from Syria towards an Israeli force south of Quneitra," an Israeli army spokeswoman said.

"The Israeli Defence Forces did not respond in order to maintain restraint," the spokeswoman added.

1. Ooooooh scawwwy!
They've got all the nukes in the ME, the US military covering their ass if the going gets even somewhat tough, a direct pipeline to he US taxpayer's money, control of the US congress, and they're crying about hearing some popping going off in the distance in the direction of Syria. Now that's newsworthy! :nopity:

4. Depends, Venezuela and N.Korea are on the list too.
Thats one of the scary things about Bush, no one knows what the hell he's going to do next.

I also have no idea why this was moved from News to Israeli/Palistenian affairs. Is it not news if it happens in Israel?

5. Wow, you have new information
Could you list for me the times the US has covered Israels Ass?

I can think of a lot of times we have backed the Arab states in the region even to the point of supporting Saudi Arabia against Israel in 1948.
Could you enlighten me please?
