Israeli Army Prepares Broad Gaza Operation
JERUSALEM - Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said Sunday there would be no holds barred in stopping Palestinian violence that has heated up ahead of Israel's planned pullout from the Gaza Strip.

Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz, speaking at a weekly Cabinet meeting, said Israel would launch a "massive, prolonged and intricate" military strike if the Palestinian Authority doesn't curb militants who have been barraging Israeli targets with rockets and mortar rounds in recent days, a meeting participant said.

Thousands of Israeli troops massed along the Gaza border, meanwhile, in preparation for a possible ground offensive. Israel Radio reported that Lt. Gen. Dan Halutz told Sharon's ministers that preparations for the strike are complete.

3. the palestenains....
Edited on Sun Jul-17-05 12:06 PM by pelsar
are being idiotes...i really dont care for an analysis of which group is launching the kassams and mortors...the fact is that if they continue there wont be pullout, either that or there will be a massive reinvasion to insure the peaceful pullout.....

seems like the palstenanians are attempting to sabotage even this little pull out...unless of course there is another explanation that I am missing.....

9. palestenians-are they proving that they dont want us to leave?
well doesnt it strike you as counterproductive to shoot at us while we are attempting to actually leave gaza?

in fact i would say this is becoming quite blatant....if here we are packing up and getting ready to leave....and what do we get from the palestenians?...over a 100 mortors and rockets.

we are obviously not going to send in hundreds of police and soldiers to be exposed in the settlements if there is going to be mortor fire..that will kill tens of israelis.

so do they want us to leave or not?..........seems to me this is proving to us more and more, that even when we voluntarily leave land to the palestenains they still shoot at us...whats the excuse this time?
