1. The Willie Brown link is dead

I was curious to review that since Bob Kerrey (9/11 commission) dismissed that story and the Ashcroft not flying commercial story on the Al Franken show on Air America. He claimed that the commission looked into these and there was noting to them or words to that effect.

2. Try this one

For Mayor Willie Brown, the first signs that something was amiss came late Monday when he got a call from what he described as his airport security -- a full eight hours before yesterday's string of terrorist attacks -- advising him that Americans should be cautious about their air travel.
The mayor, who was booked to fly to New York yesterday morning from San Francisco International Airport, said the call "didn't come in any alarming fashion, which is why I'm hesitant to make an alarming statement."
In fact, at the time, he didn't pay it much mind.
"It was not an abnormal call. I'm always concerned if my flight is going to be on time, and they always alert me when I ought to be careful."
Exactly where the call came from is a bit of a mystery. The mayor would say only that it came from "my security people at the airport."

3. Okay but more questions

The Sept 12, 2001 report at sfgate.com claims Brown got a call but doesn't identify the source. Further it says Brown said

the call "didn't come in any alarming fashion, which is why I'm hesitant to make an alarming statement."

In fact, at the time, he didn't pay it much mind.

But the indybay link says this:

As reported on Pacifica on May 17, 2002, Condolezza Rice stated on CNN that she warned Willie Brown not to board an airpline on 9/11/01 some 8 hours before he was scheduled to fly.

Can any of this be corroborated? Did Pacifica radio report this as claimed? Did Rice actually say this on CNN?

6. For what it's worth

I just completed a Lexus Nexus search of CNN transcripts from 9/11/01 to 06/01/02. There is nothing to indicate Condoleezza Rice said anything of the sort.
