as to the mechanics behind the current debated theories behind WTC7's collapse. Are people categorizing it as a global collapse event as WTC 1 & 2?

If you mean global collapse as meaning complete and total collapse of the kind usually associated with building demolitions, the answer is yes.

2. It is seen as a three phase collapse

1. A vertical failure due to a lower level support column failing.

2. One third of the building is cleaved off by the vertical failure.

3. The remainder of the building is pulled down by the collapse in part two.

Completely different mechanism than WTC 1&2 - WTC 7 was basically pulled apart.
