9/11 Archives at DU
Edited on Sun Jul-30-06 06:21 PM by RedSock
Where are DU's 9/11 archives?

When I click on the "Archives" button near the top right corner, I get this message:

The page you requested cannot be displayed.
This feature is temporarily unavailble. Sorry for the inconvenience.

The information you requested cannot be displayed because it is no longer available. If you think this is in error, please contact the site administrator.

I did send off an email, but have yet to receive a response. The message says the archives are both "temporarily unavailble" and "no longer available". ... Which is it?

I thought perhaps that one had to be a donor to access the archives, so I donated some $. Turns out that doesn't work either.

So there are 20 pages of 9/11 threads and whenever anyone starts a new thread, it appears that the last one on page 20 vanishes forever. (For example, this new thread deleted (?) "Indira Singh -Ptech, Bohemian Grove, 9/11, Child Slaves & Bush".)

If this is true, I suggest saving some of the better threads to your hard drive before they go *poof*.

1. I think the web links to the archive haven't worked for quite some time.

I remember John Doe II asking about it when he was still around. (link) For clarification you'll probably need to email the administrators.

All of the threads are still in the archive, however if you do not have them bookmarked in your web-browser (or possibly your DU bookmarks), I think the only way to access them might be through DU's search function. I did a search for a couple of key words in the thread title that you mentioned and it came right up. Here is the link:

2. advanced search
ah -- there is an advanced search mode you can use, which brought up some threads for me from 2004. that is very good.

but there is no other way to access them, i guess?

it would be nice to have that -- for browsing purposes.

Thanks for posting this - I didn't even know DU was archived. (It does however look like there is a gap between what is archived and what is still browsable in the September 11 forum.)

I have no idea why it changed, but it doesn't seem like any of the other forum archives work either. Maybe you can get some answers from the administrators if you email them.

I've always just done a search to find stuff, although sometimes I come up empty handed.
