Where's the smoke stains and soot?
Question: Where's the smoke stains and soot one would expect to see in the North section of the Pentagon blast area?

Answer: The initial blast caused by shaped charges/a bomb forced the second blast(jet fuel ignited) to be thrust to the south( a thoroughly burned out area),to the front(this explains the wide sweep of fire on the facade) and up over the roof.

1. Give it up - it WAS A PLANE
Many close friends saw it in different stages over Rosslyn and 101 and a few saw it hit.

I was (unluckily) in NYC that day, so I didn't see it, but if I had been there, I would have been sitting in my office, 300 feet or so from it's flight path.

It was a plane. There are MUCH more important (and real) fish to fry, like the "crashed plane".

2. agreed.
It was absolutely a plane. That is my contention. A plane strapped with shaped charges and a bomb.

General Richard Myers, vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, says that prior to the crash into the Pentagon, military officials had been notified that another hijacked plane had been heading from the New York area to Washington.

He says he assumed that hijacked plane was the one that hit the Pentagon, though he could not be sure.

And you wonder why DulceDecorum has difficulty in jumping to conclusions....

6. Like saying of WTC on 9-11: "Give it up - it was a fire"
Yes. Yes, there was a fire there. "Thank you for your contribution. Next question. Yes, YOU sir --- from Hill & Knowlton."

4. You show a picture...
taken, what, a month after the attack, with most of the wreckage cleaned up, and ask 'where's the smoke and soot?'? I'll tell you: it went to the dump with the rest of the wreckage.

7. That's been long debunked.
Those "clean" upper offices were protected from the fire by the wall.

When the inner building collapsed, it pulled down the side wall, exposing the clean offices to the light. No big mystery.

Why would you bring up something that was debunked over a year ago?

9. Debunked by who...you?
Funny that all those fire walls didn't work south of the crash site. And why are the C ring walls void of soot and fire damage on the first floor(with the exception of the hole into the A-E drive)? The initial blast caused by shaped charges prohibited fire from penetrating these areas.

14. De- debunked
Boloboffin,
that is so not true in this our universe.

One bright September morning in the middle of July,
The sun lay thick upon the ground, the snow shone in the sky.
The flowers were singing gaily, the birds were full of bloom;
I went upstairs to the cellar to clean a downstairs room.

Really?...they didn't do a very good job south of the crash,on the facade and over the roof. Shame on them...and shame on your "Rummy".

17. Better photos and ....
.... some very informative articles on the Pentagon appeared in the November 2002 issue of Firehouse; a magazine for the fire services that was founded by FDNY firefighter Dennis Smith who is best known for his books Report From Engine Co. 82 (a reality diary type book) and The Final Fire (a novel). Firehouse magazine operates the firehouse.com site that has been linked by forum members. I obtained a copy of the November 2002 issue of Firehouse through my municipal library services. It also contains some riveting Trade Center articles.

One of Pentagon articles, written by Rudy Eversburg, a firefighter on the 3rd arriving unit on 9/11 details his observations and the actions taken, and why. He describes how firefighters crawled down blistering hot smoke blackened hallways and through numerous collapse areas on their search for possible survivors and to extinguish fires. His article includes all the follow-up firematic actions taken, explains how the FBI became the lead agency (PDD #39 or Presidential Directive #39), and ends with a 'lessons learned' segement on the shortcomings and areas of the response that need improvement. Pages 79 and 84 have much better photos.

The issue also has a 9/11 Pentagon USAR (Urban Search And Rescue) article describing the collapse areas and the actions taken, who was in charge and where the search and collapse teams came from; and another article is written about how the Washington DC Fire Dept assisted and how the mutual aid system worked.

These are good articles and worth the effort to locate.
