NEW YORK (AP) -- Human remains that appear to be from World Trade Center victims were found by utility workers in a manhole at the northern edge of the site, a Port Authority official said Thursday.

A Consolidated Edison crew doing excavation of the manhole at street level found the remains, some as big as arm or leg bones, said Steve Coleman, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which owns the site.

Con Ed said it entered the site Wednesday to remove material from two manholes that had been damaged and abandoned after the 2001 collapse of the twin towers...

Five years after 2,749 people died in the Sept. 11 World Trade Center attacks, families of about 1,150 victims still do not know whether their loved ones' remains were recovered.

During the excavation of the 110-story twin towers, which began the evening of the attacks and lasted for nine months, about 20,000 pieces of human remains were found. The DNA in thousands of those pieces, many small enough to slip into a test tube, was too damaged by heat, humidity and time to yield matches in the many tests forensic scientists have tried over the years...

"We've got a problem right now," Wolf said. "Where else are we going to find them next?"

In your opinion, LARED, how would body parts end up under a manhole that was presumably closed during the respective collapses of the towers?

I have my own theory, but it is, of course, a "theory".

I am interested in your own particular theory about how such a thing happened.

Sounds to me like they entered through a manhole into subterranean cavities, where they found remains.

Lots of options exist.

People trapped, animals moved the fragments, underground flooding after the collapse relocated the fragments to name a few. How about the collapse pushing air through the underground cavities and depositing remains. I am simply wondering why someone finds nefarious actions were at play. We know so little about the area or its location to know much how easy or complex it would have been for remains to wind up there.

11. You are correct

that we don't know enough about the area to accurately guess why the remains ended up there. However, I find it reprehensible that the area was obviously not treated as a crime scene. Had it been treated as such, the remains would have been located much, much sooner.

Let's hope the legal requirements for a crime scene investigation are followed this time around!

What were all these people doing under the manhole? How did they die? There's no excuse for not doing the CSI right this time around.
We've seen the disasterous consequences of doing wrong or not at all.

This may shed a light on the explosives going off in the basements of the WTC buildings...and the attempted cover-up of the explosive story.

Or can they be examined to determine the temperatures to which they were exposed?

15. If it's possible to test them, they'll just figure out a good lie to tell the public.

The U.S. Gov't has never told the truth about ANY of its False Flag operations, and it's naive to think they will with regard to 9/11.
