Dayton: FAA, NORAD hid 9/11 failures
Greg Gordon, Star Tribune Washington Bureau Correspondent

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Sen. Mark Dayton, D-Minn., charged Friday that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) have covered up "catastrophic failures" that left the nation vulnerable during the Sept. 11 hijackings.

"For almost three years now, NORAD officials and FAA officials have been able to hide their critical failures that left this country defenseless during two of the worst hours in our history," Dayton declared during a Senate Governmental Affairs Committee hearing

Dayton: 'NORAD lied'

During the hearing, Dayton told leaders of the Sept. 11 commission, that, based on the commission's report, a NORAD chronology made public a week after the attacks was grossly misleading.

1. he was on our local radio also saying the report points out who
lied - and he used the word LIED in a very strong voice - Dayton said the President needs to call these people out and fire them immediately.

2. Appears that they have changed
tactics. Now it's blame the controllers. I knew they would do this however and I have not seen one controller who was working allowed to testify.

Of course I can tell you as a former ATC'er that if I lost 1 mile separation between two heavy aircraft I could get my license pulled or I could be put back in training. That doesn't matter thought because on 9-11 we let commercial airplanes with the transponders turned off for 108 minutes joy ride the skies of the USA and it's NO biggie.

Only if you don't know the system of course and these whores are planing on that.

What do you mean by "1 mile seperation between two heavy aircraft"?

Thanks :D

4. Sorry
heavy aircraft..DC10 to DC10 have a minimum separation allowance of 10 miles. If an ATC'er "loses" separation by a mile we were penalized. You as a passenger wouldn't know because you can't see 9 miles away. I was just posting on how ATC is serious work with procedures and laws set in place and everyone understands how serious it is.
By the way all controllers "lose" separation now and then. In fact the FAA has build into the scopes all types of whistles and bells when this happens so they can take corrective action.
I was just comparing aircraft in positive control airspace under a probably hijacking allowed to joy ride for over an hour without a fighter scrambled.
