1. Um...
http://blog.cleveland.com/openers/2008/02/kucinich_supporters_donate_nea.html

U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich's plea to supporters to send money has paid off.

In the past six weeks, Kucinich raised nearly $700,000 in his bid to hold onto his 10th Congressional District seat. That brings his total to $735,000, the most he has amassed in a congressional race, including his initial bid 12 years ago against incumbent Martin Hoke.

His top rival, Cleveland Councilman Joe Cimperman, reported total contributions of $487,000, a little over half which was raised this year.

Maybe he'll be alright.

4. My article was posted after yours.
Same day, but Dennis has got $700,000 to complain loudly about being swiftboated.

From your article:

Cimperman, a former Kucinich supporter, said he doesn't regret helping to raise money a few years ago so a portrait of former Mayor Dennis Kucinich could be hung in City Hall.

"The person I supported then isn't the person he is now," Cimperman said.

That's who is "swiftboating" him now. Nothing mentioned at your article about how Dennis is being attacked other than not paying attention to his district.

7. People who live IN Ohio
Kucinich's big money givers, who donated a total of $230,000, primarily live outside of Ohio. A third of the money came from California, where 120 people donated a total of $75,700. Ohioans contributed nearly $25,000. His other top states for donations were New York, Massachusetts and Oregon.

His supporters include singer Bonnie Raitt, best-selling author and New Age lecturer Marianne Williamson and "Million Dollar Baby" film writer Paul Haggis, along with numerous college professors, artists and retirees.

Cimperman's supporters are almost all Ohioans. The roster includes Cleveland Indians attorney Paul Dolan, downtown real estate developer Richard Jacobs and Crocker Park developer Bob Stark. The United Food and Commercial Workers Local 880 gave $5,000.

Cimperman collected $15,000 from people outside Ohio.

Perhaps Kucinch hasn't been paying enough attention to his district.

But other things finally pushed me away. I believe it was about the time I saw his chemtrails legislation (I know it was rather gingerly phrased, but sigh).

Went to Barack. And after McClurkin, I bounced to Dodd to Edwards. Now I'm going to vote for Barack here in Texas, and gearing up to support the Dem nominee in November.

That was fun!

3. Is Dennis Kucinich Getting McKinney’d
Edited on Sat Feb-23-08 12:00 PM by seemslikeadream
From www.dissidentvoice.org:

Is Dennis Kucinich Getting McKinney’d

Former Presidential Candidate Who Advocated Peace and Impeachment Facing Well-Financed Challenge at Home

by Kevin Zeese / February 9th, 2008

On the Hill some call it being McKinney’d — the treatment Green Party presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney received when she was in Congress. Twice, rather than protecting the incumbent, the Democrats put up well funded challengers against her. Now, it looks like Dennis Kucinich may be facing the same treatment in Cleveland.

There is a report circulating the web that before the Nevada primary Kucinich was visited by representatives of Nancy Pelosi and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the right wing Israeli lobby. They told him that if he would drop his campaigns to impeach Cheney and Bush, they would guarantee his re-election to the House of Representatives. Kucinich threw them out of his office.

Kucinich has aggressively challenged the Democratic Party leadership in Congress and on the presidential campaign trail on the issues of war, civil liberties, impeachment and big business control of government. He’s even refused to pledge to endorse the party’s presidential nominee.

The Democratic leadership has insisted that impeachment was off the table since taking control of the House in 2006. Congressman Conyers, Chair of the Judiciary Committee, has even refused to investigate whether President Bush and Vice President Cheney have violated the law. But Kucinich pushed the issue. He introduced articles of impeachment against Cheney, then against Bush and he brought the issue up on the House floor. He pushed and pushed to try to make sure the president and vice president were not above the law.

On the campaign trail he didn’t let Senator Clinton or Obama get away with campaign peace rhetoric in the Democratic primary while they voted war funding with no strings attached in the senate. He pointed out that their rhetoric was not consistent with their actions. He pushed the issue of all troops being removed; while Obama and Clinton parse their words carefully making it clear they will withdraw only some of the troops and neither promising a complete troop withdrawal even by 2012.

And he pierced the veil of campaign rhetoric of Democrats who call for “universal health care” but put forward plans that will enrich their donors in the private health insurance industry.

On issue after issue Kucinich pushed against the Democratic Party leadership — now, it seems he is paying a price.

126072, Kucinich supporters donate nearly $700,000 in six weeks
Posted by cyclezealot on Fri Feb-22-08 05:06 AM

Thank You real Democrats. We came through for Dennis Kucinich. Dennis, use it well. Don't let Cimperman get away with his lies. I was afraid the presidential race caused us to forget who has been out there doing the heavy lifting these past two years.
**********

Thursday was the deadline for congressional candidates to file pre-primary finance reports with the Federal Elections Commission. To check the reports go to fec.gov.

Kucinich's big money givers, who donated a total of $230,000, primarily live outside of Ohio. A third of the money came from California, where 120 people donated a total of $75,700. Ohioans contributed nearly $25,000. His other top states for donations were New York, Massachusetts and Oregon.

Cimperman collected $15,000 from people outside Ohio.

Both candidates appear to have sizeable amounts of money left to spend. As of Feb. 13. Kucinich reported having $330,000 and Cimperman, $215,000.

The other three candidates reported much smaller war chests.

Rosemary Palmer has raised $55,000 and lent her campaign $106,000. The former teacher and journalist who is opposed to the war entered the run after her U.S. Marine son was killed in combat in Iraq.

North Olmsted Mayor Thomas O'Grady has raised $37,000. Barbara Ferris, the head of a nonprofit International Women's Democracy Center, has raised close to $17,000 in donations.

I'm wondering if YOU were paying attention when he won here, as to who DU wanted to be the nominee for PRESIDENT

And Gore lost....why?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dennis_Kucinich

Foreign policy record
Kucinich has criticized the foreign policy of President Bush, including the 2003 invasion of Iraq and what he perceives as growing American hostility towards Iran. He has since voted against funding it 100% of the time. In 2005, Kucinich voted against the Iran Freedom and Support Act, calling it a "stepping stone to war."<28> The congressman also signed a letter of solidarity with Hugo Chávez in Venezuela in 2004.<29>

He advocates the abolition of all nuclear weapons calling on the United States to be the leader in multilateral disarmament.<30> Kucinich has also been a strong opponent of space based weapons and has sponsored legislation, HR 2977, banning the deployment and use of space-based weapons.<31>

Kucinich advocates U.S. withdrawal from the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) because, in his view, it causes the loss of more American jobs than it creates, and does not provide adequate protections for worker rights and safety and environmental safeguards. He is against the Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) for the same reason.<32>

Kucinich is also in favor of increased dialogue with Iran in order to avoid a militaristic confrontation at all costs. He expressed such sentiments at an American Iranian Council conference in New Brunswick, New Jersey which included Chuck Hagel, Javad Zarif, Nicholas Kristof, and Anders Liden to discuss Iranian-American relations, and potential ways to increase dialogue in order to avoid conflict.<33>

He believes the U.S. should move aggressively to reduce emissions that cause climate change due to global warming<34> and should ratify the Kyoto Protocol, a major international agreement signed by over 160 countries to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases emitted by each signatory.<35>

Kucinich and Ron Paul are the only two congressional representatives who voted<36> against the Rothman-Kirk Resolution,<37> which calls on the United Nations to charge Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad with violating the genocide convention of the United Nations Charter based on statements that he has made. Kucinich defended his vote by saying that Ahmadinejad's statements could be translated to mean that he wants a regime change in Israel, not death to its people and supporters, and that the resolution is an attempt to beat "the war drum to build support for a U.S. attack on Iran."<38>

Kucinich is the only congressional representative to vote against<39> the symbolic "9/11 Commemoration" resolution.<40> In a press statement<41> he defended his nay vote by saying that the bill did not make reference to "the lies that took us into Iraq, the lies that keep us there, the lies that are being used to set the stage for war against Iran and the lies that have undermined our basic civil liberties here at home."

In a visit to the rest of the Middle East in September 2007, Kucinich said he did not visit Iraq because "I feel the United States is engaging in an illegal occupation."<42> Kucinich was criticized for his visit to Syria and praise of the President Bashar al-Assad on Syria's national TV.<43> He praised Syria for taking in Iraqi refugees. "What most people are not aware of is that Syria has taken in more than 1.5 million Iraqi refugees," Kucinich said. "The Syrian government has actually shown a lot of compassion in keeping its doors open, and being a host for so many refugees."<44>

Despite Kucinich's committed opposition to the war in Iraq, the Congressman did vote to authorize President Bush broad war making powers in the days following the September 11, 2001 attacks.<45> The Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Terrorists, has been cited by the Bush Administration in its justification for suspension of habeas corpus in the Guantanamo Bay detention camp and its wiretapping of American citizens under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. Kucinich voted along with 419 of his House colleagues in favor of this resolution, while only one Congresswoman opposed, Representative Barbara Lee.

We all know that Toaster Ovens AND Waffle Irons power base is Big Coal and Big Oil. Sure he makes platitudes towards greener energy but time and time again he goes back to Big Oil and Big Coal. It's his power base. He might as well be in the neocons pockets at this point. I don't know about you but I don't want any more blood wars for oil.

Honkbag is environmentally friendly, for example his stance on getting Styrofoam out of our environment is well documented and he isn't beholden to Big Oil or Big Coal.

"About 25 children in the United States suffocate each year due to plastic bags, most under the age of one year. This has led to voluntary warning labels on some bags, especially dry cleaning bags, which pose a hazard when placed on the same adult bed as a baby"

52. Honkbag...
Is very careful. Honkbag has a warning label. Honkbag is not a flimsy little dry cleaner bag that easily goes with the shifting winds of opinion. Honkbag is however filled with squeaky toys and those fun, old time bulb horns that we all remember from our youth.

What does Toaster Oven and Waffle Iron do to children? They BURN them, sometimes disfiguring them for life. I say the electorate ask themselves, who really hates the children?

You say he doesn't try to entice children, but then in the same breath you say he's full of squeaky toys. You're a hypocrite.

56. I never said...
that he was full of either. Stop trying to change the subject with a strawman argument that I never made. I would also like to point out that the whole reason that Old Timey Bicycle time is done is because of candidates like your Toaster Oven that dip into the trough of Big Oil in an attempt to make him obsolete. Well he's not obsolete yet. His grandchildren are here today in garages across our great land and they will remember what Toaster Oven did and make it right. Face it, Toaster oven is, well, toast...

Old Timey Bicycle, you did.

While it's true that honkbag does have a little bit of interest in petroleum it has been, and always will be, a one time thing. Honkbag doesn't need to be coming back to the trough of big oil day after day just to keep going. The supply of oil could dry up tomorrow and honkbag will still be around doing what he does best. Can Toaster Oven or Waffle Iron do the same? I think not.

How can you say that TO is a shill for Big Oil? There are so many options for TO/WI that it's crazy. In fact, he's pro-nuclear power. When you bring this type of thing up to honkbag, he just melts away.

His showing in YOUR OBVIOUSLY FAKE poll numbers only show that the people voting for him hate children. Toaster Oven makes breakfast for the kids all the time. Look at his cabinet: toaster strudels and pop tarts are promiment members.

feeling defensive over this. Show me where the polls were wrong. Honkbag doesn't push-poll to get false results. Keeping toaster strudels and pop tarts in the cabinets is IMHO a means of torture for those poor children, I'll bet that they are kept hidden behind child-proof locks and/or on the top shelves where they can't reach them. What's next? Is Toaster Oven and Waffle Iron going to break out the waterboard?

51. Waterboarding -- 2 things

Seriously, are you promoting childhood obesity? Child-locks on pop-tarts are a parents perogative, and Toaster Oven respects the choice of the parent in either situation.

Also, what do you have against water? Water is vital to our survival, and the TO/WI will push forward with invigorating steam on this issue.

is an empty suit at best. Sure, in years past he helped Edsel out a little but since then he's been nothing but a failure. I'll simply point you to the excellent documentary series called 'Mythbusters' and point out that he has repeatedly failed at accomplishing his goals. Sure, I'll admit that he has had some minor victories but overall he has crashed and burned far to many times to be a viable candidate in todays world of violence and terrorism.

This kind of thing, although under a cover of more relevance, has been going on in this forum for a long time. Looks like the same person using two identities. Agenda: make the thread useless and essentially unreadable. Mission accomplished.

119. I'm the one...
Who got it started, I was Honkbag-08 (may he rest in peace). Lay off of the innocents here and get a sense of humor.

This all started at a Fark.com thread and should end right now.

"Your" thread got picked because it was about, in a general sense, candidates. The Dungeon was picked because, and I'll admit it, I didn't know about the lounge and it's permissive environment, so I went with what I thought was a somewhat loosely moderated board with little traffic. That you went into immediate attack mode and accused people who had nothing to do with it speaks volumes about you however.

Now, a little bit about me. I've voted on the right more times than I care to admit. I've spent more time underwater prepared to launch ballistic missiles than you have spent on the shitter in your lifetime. I gave $301.00 to Obama last month. He'd call me an Obamacin(sp). The thing is that I don't whisper it.

My bad.

Pearls Before Swine - Another Time

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPxpMVd0v4s

Where have you been to?
Where did you go?
Did you follow the summer out
When the winter pushed its face in the snow?
Or have you come by again
To die again?
Try again another time

Did you follow the Crystal Swan?
Did you see yourself
Deep inside the Velvet Pond?
Or have you come by again
To die again?
Try again another time

When you set to shape the world
was the shape the shape of you?
or did you cast enchanting glance
through the eye that all men use?
Or have you come by again
to die again?
try again another time

Did you find that the Universe
Doesn't care at all?
Did you find that if you don't care
This whole wrong world will fall?
Or have you come by again
To die again?
Try again another time

Did you ever capture
All those jewels in the sky?
Did you find that the world outside
Is all inside your mind?
Or have you come by again
To die again
Try again another time

Pearls Before Swine - Drop Out!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaKmZAJ-hdg

Drop out with me
And just live your life
Behind your eyes
Your own skies
Your own tomorrows

Just be yourself
And no one can step
Inside your mind
From behind
If you just walk out

They made the rules
And they laid it
On us all
Don't you fall
'Cause then they own you

They're using you
To kill all the echoes still
Around
From the sound
Of calendars crumbling

They made the bomb
Would they drop it
On us all?
Great and small.
But must we follow
Drop out with me.

Oh how very odd.

We are supposed to believe that he/she/they care so much about some DUer's reputation that they must take the time to come back, read all the remarks, and are so "concerned???" reregister to give us all a detailed explanation. Some random prankster cares so much about folks at DU? How does someone who is not a member here even know about this forum? Most the RESISTERED DUer's here don't know about it.
