will rocket the "truth movement" forward. Did any of you happen to count all the egregious errors in her little speech?

18. You are not debating the "matter"
You are maligning the Senator by calling her "obscure". What makes one senator more obscure than another? I have always thought that the "Will of the People" in terms of electing their senators makes each one as important as another.

24. Hope...it's real simple....
before you watched the video or saw her name in connection woth the 9/11 "truth" movement, had you ever even heard of her? I'm willing to bet the answer is no, unless you happen to live in Arizona. This is silly. She is an obscure part-time state legislator and is hardly a heavy-weight. In fact, I would be willing to bet that the average american probably does not even know the name of their state senator or state house member. That's obscure.

26. Why would anyone outside of Arizona know who she is?
It's not like she's a U.S. Senator - she's in the state legislature. I'd be hard-pressed to think of a reason why anyone else would have heard of her.

29. Probably not.
If she's the state senator I'm thinking of, then more people are aware of her than would normally be. The senator I'm thinking of is fond of promoting idiotic ideas and therefore gets more press than she would otherwise.

31. Sad that you malign not only a Senator from AZ
but, also it's citizens. People I have met in person and online from AZ (this includes AZCat) strike me as fairly intelligent and well-informed.

BTW, one DOES NOT have to be well-known in order to be taken seriously. Your attempts to dismiss this Senator from AZ because she is "obscure" are pretty feeble.

33. It's hard to keep track of them all, even for those of us who try to stay informed.
Not all of us are good at remembering names, either. Unfortunately for me, one of the easier to remember members, Jake Flake from Snowflake, just died a week ago of a heart attack. His nephew is a U.S. Representative (Jeff Flake).

35. That is understood, AZ.
I guess my point here is that whether or not one considers another "obscure" does not, in any way, mean that what that person has to say should be taken any less seriously than something a more high-profile person might say.

If, on the other hand, there is reason to think that a person is "full of it", based on past experience with that person, then, there might be good reason to discount that person. Ironically, one needs to know of a person before he or she can discount that person.

36. That's one of the reasons (at least as I understand it)...
why we stereotype people so easily, because judging someone on a few facts allows a person to determine various things (like credibility and trustworthiness) about that person without having to get to know them first. I do it. I imagine we all do to some degree. In fact, I just did it when I read Senator Johnson's profile - I saw she was a Mormon, and thought, "dammit, why do they have to have all those kids?"

37. I do my own stereotyping
I am ashamed to admit. But, of course, stereotyping never guarantees an accurate assessment of another.

38. I came to terms with it a few years ago.
I realized I couldn't stop the initial response, but that I could be aware of this tendency. When I catch myself stereotyping, I try to take a step back and re-evaluate both the target of my stereotype and my approach to that person. It has helped (at least I think).

how is noting that she is obscure "maligning" her? I am simply pointing out a fact. Nor am I, in any way, "maligning" the people of Arizone as I said most people (from ANY state) probably don't even know who their state senator or member of the state house is. And, I'm hardly trying to dismiss her. I am dismissing the "truth movement" for its inability to attract high-profile support. You're making a mountain out of a molehill here.
