What if 9/11 had happened to California?
I don't think most of this country would
have felt the same about planes hitting
one of the taller buildings in downtown
LA with planes full of people....

Many of us didn't see the tragedies the
same way as those who were affected.
Some of us didn't feel it was a national
tragedy or warranting bombing a whole country...
but a crime by 19, funded by Saudi royals for the
most part.

Just something to think about.

4. well, ask yourself that.
New Yorkers, DCers, the East Coast I think,
think of themselves as the center of finance,
news, law-making...if something happens there,
it's crucial...if something happens in LA...
so a few movie productions get interrupted.
A generalization, but maybe truthful.

2. I would disagree
No matter where it happened the loss of 3000 people is a national tragedy.

10. 3,000 is a lot of people...but look how many died in Iraq
who cared about the death of more than 16,000 Iraqis (the ones
who were actually reported)?

11. Now your mixing apples & oranges
I thought this thread was about 9/11 & America.

If you want to talk about another Country I'll be more than happy to oblige you. Yes that is a tragedy, but not in the same sense.

12. Ok, let's stay on tragedies in America
I think the premise that this was made
more of because it was in NY and DC
(and Pennsylvania) is still
something to think about.

3. I think you're wrong. I think this could have happened in Kansas
a;though you probably couldn't have found 3,000 people in one place in Kanas, and the entire country would have responded the same way. I was all for going after Osama and the gang. Shrub could have really made his mark in history and with the world if he had stuck to the program, but he didn't. He had to piss off lots of Americans and the rest of the world by insisting on fulfilling his dream in Iraq.

5. Be honest. I don't think the same feelings would have been there.
Not all of us thought that bombing Afghanistan
to find a few men was a good idea, even after
9/11.

6. For those who disagree with the OP....
I see their point. When the wildfires were killing people in SoCal I saw a lot of internets posts saying "Just a bunch of liberals oh well" etc. I wonder if 9/11 happened L.A. style how long it would be before someone hoped "Barbra Streisand" got hit or some such filth.

13. Why do you do it?
Why do you spend so much time here racking up over a thousand posts and reveal yourselves for this pathetic little post? No wonder your side is going down.

I don't recall having a side that differs
much from the rest of the board.

16. ummm isn't NY full of liberals
Geez!

The problem with 9/11 is not the location of where it happened, it is the fact that we used it to begin an illegal war with Iraq.

19. That's true too but
my point is that that particular part
of the country, seat of goverment, finance,
intelligensia, media, power was more affected
by what happened. It wasn't a liberal or
conservative issue....it was also fanned
by an administration and corporate media
that wanted to make use of it.
