I'd like to learn more about the actual response time |
|
what exactly happened in that time gap between the time that the traffic controllers knew something was going on, and when the planes hit??? who's job was it to scramble fighter jets??

2. I'd like to hear from interceptor pilots |
|
they were on Payne Stewart in 20 minutes.
they can get from dead stop to altitude in 5 minutes.
You can see Andrews Air Force Base from the Pentagon, and it has two fighter squadrons.
I'm not sure why more pilots haven't spoken out on this.

3. i think you mean Bolling AFB |
|
Andrews is a ways away, and its job is not so much of air defense of our nation's captial as much as it is an airport hub...Home of the 89th Airlift Wing, the base transports troops and (heavy) military equipment all over the globe. It is also the place where the president, cabinet members, and foreign dignitaries (you can tell I've spent some time there...lol)
