"independent, privately-funded citizen's inquiry group with subpoena power" to conduct a new investigation into 9/11. Does anyone know of any legal precedent for delegating subpoena power to a private citizen's group? The only thing I've been able to find is Atlanta Journal v Hill, which held that such delegation was unconstitutional. Now, admittedly, that was in Georgia, but my question is whether anyone at CAN thought this issue through. If they cannot be delegated subpoena power, they would be pretty much a toothless dog. If they cannot get around that issue, it seems to me they would have to fall back on some government entity to conduct the investigation which would, effectively, drive the "truthers" apeshit, seeing as how "you can't trust the gub'mint". Does anyone know a way out of this dilemma for CAN, assuming there is a dilemma?

they are establishing citizen grand juries to indict Obama. Since the truthers have an lot in common with them, perhaps they can compare notes.
