1. Not sure this is big news
considering no one actually thinks the steel melted in the first place. It does show, however, that the 911 tragedy has will result in a better understanding of structures and fires.

4. Melted Steel at Ground Zero For Sure
Edited on Fri Jul-24-09 08:24 PM by Kalun D
There's pics and vid and dozens of eye-witnesses that saw melted steel at ground zero

""no one actually thinks the steel melted in the first place.""

then why have you twice posted an article from MIT that says they think it did?

why do you contradict yourself like that? It doesn't make any sense?

page 71

""The contribution of this fireball to the heating of the steel elements on
the outside lattice structure can not be ignored, as evidence of some steel melting was
suggested by the photographs.""

page 79

""The preliminary estimates of fuel load for the WTC fire given earlier imply heat loads
of the order of giga-Joules/m2. Furthermore, the estimates of total area-based ventilation
parameter is in the range 0.4-2.0, again confirming that the highest possible interior fire
temperatures could have been reached, possibly exceeding 1000° C, as seen in Fig. 5. Such
temperature could cause glowing, softening and melting.""

6. Why?
we know that heats weakens steel. What mechanism do you accept as the only valid explanation as to how this happens?

7. Same old stuff
This article is almost a year old and has no scientific info, just a one sentence statement.

Everything anyone who is still new to this subject needs to know about how the three WTC buildings were demolished is at www.ae911truth.org . Watch the two hour video. Don't waste you time on anything else until you study their site. It is the first step otherwise you will get sidetracked and confused by all the conflicting and confusing information here on DU. Learn the scientific and structural basics first and you will be in good shape to learn more.

9. How do you know Gage is telling you the truth?
You don't seem to know much about architecture and engineering.

8. This is stupid
Saying Magnetic Forces To Blame For 9-11 Tower Collapses is a little like saying a decrease in latent heat of fusion caused an ice berg to sink the Titanic.

12. This was an extremely misleeding article and intentionally so.
The discovery was the mechanism behind the softening of steel. But the author makes every effort to make it seem like nobody knew steel weakened below it's melting point. Then ties it in unnecessarily with 9-11 using a very misleading title in a pathetic attempt to get more readers to look at it.

Terrible pointless article.
