... and hardly anyone ever hears about them. Of the ones that do get past that, the vast majority get stuck at "then they ridicule you." Only a very few -- the ones who can at least sound sane -- make it as far as "then they fight you."

Unfortunately for the "truth movement," about the only way to make it to that last stage is to be right. Truth doesn't just "happen."

That's exactly the brick wall the "truth movement" ran into sometime around 2006. Paranoia isn't really enough to make a conspiracist. It also requires firmly believing things without good reason, apparently because they mistake their own paranoid speculations as "common sense." If you take pride in disbelieving everything on MSNBC and Fox but then believe nonsense your read on some crackpot's website just because it's not MSNBC or Fox, the Buddha would not be pleased.
