Some reservists ponder quitting as service time grows
I don't blame them, I blame the Reichmarshall and his neocon Revolution in Political and Military Affairs militarists. It is affecting morale negatively, the haphazard day-to-day "planning" of citizen-soldiers futures.

1. New?
Happens all of the time. People join the Reserve and Guard because they do not want the deployments of active duty but still want to serve. Well, when they have deployments like the active duty, people bail. This is somthing that the Reserves have delt with before and will again.

FYI, when deployment schedules increase in the AD, people get out also. That has been an ongoing problem for the past 10 years. And it is just going to get worse. This will put more strain on the guard and Reserve in the short run till recruiting goals raise enough to make up.

2. Hotel California
Last thing I remember,
I was running for the door
I had to find the passage back to the place I was before.
Relax, said the nightman

3. The sad thing is...
that they can't even quit. My boyfriend's contract ends in one month and then the stop-loss order goes into effect. I want to put a POW sign on my lawn.

4. On the cheap
This is what happens when the Bushistas try to conquer the world on the cheap. These neo-con bastards have no consciences, no shame, and see the rest of us as nothing more than cannon fodder.

And now more than half the country realizes that it's been screwed over and lied to - I'm afraid it's time for another big terrorist attack. After all, when God's on your side these kind of convenient disasters seem to literally just fall from the sky.

How right you are!

(push the "destruct" button and a shuttle falls from the sky in a convienient disaster to deflect criticism from herr Bush)

6. Failure to plan for natural disasters should…
Edited on Fri Sep-26-03 12:28 PM by jcc
Be added to the list of idiotic things America does. With the NG in Iraq, there were only something like 300 National Guard left in the area of hurricane Isabella when it struck. We had to beg for civilian volunteers to cover the number of people needed to distribute emergency supplies. If there was another attack on America, or even just a big earthquake, we’re screwed.

9. Plan?
The primary mission of the Guard: http://www.arng.army.mil/about_us/protecting_our_world.asp

Sure it is nice to have them around when the bad storms happen, but that is not thier primary mission. If there is another attack, the govt could suspend posse comatatas (sp?) during the crisis. If there are natural disasters (I live in Kansas), I guess that the sheriff will be doing a lot of overtime patroling the streets.
