9/11 Victims Fund...something struck me today |
|
ABC's Good Morning America had an interview with a woman who ended up receiving $5 million from the 9/11 victims fund and other donations. She has blown through it all (gave a lot away but did do a $1.5 million renovation to her home and $500,000 of designer shoes...yes...$500k in SHOES.) Now, I'm not questioning how she spent it. She said she felt guilty about having the money and it became an addiction to get rid of it (I guess in her grief and stress she didn't think of giving it back.)
Anyway, a thought occurred to me.
These people got their money (and a lot of money it was) rather quickly. How quickly do typical airline crash surviving family members receive money and what is the typical amount? Doesn't it seem odd that such a huge sum was available to these people from the government and disbursed rather quickly but now the WH is calling for NY to give up some of the money that hasn't been spent yet? Was the victim money a way to keep them quiet out of thanks and not question anything?
