Phantom Flight 11: Generals Eberhart, Arnold lying under oath

The 9/11 Commission notes in its typical nonchalance (page 34):

In public testimony before this Commission in May 2003, NORAD officials stated that at 9:16, NEADS received hijack notification of United 93 from the FAA. This statement was incorrect. There was no hijack to report at 9:16. United 93 was proceeding normally at that time.

In this same public testimony, NORAD officials stated that at 9:24, NEADS received notification of the hijacking of American 77. This statement was also incorrect. The notice NEADS received at 9:24 was that American 11 had not hit the World Trade Center and was heading for Washington.

So the NORAD officials were lying, weren't they?

Let's take a quick a look at their statement to achieve a better judgement:

MR. BEN-VENISTE: Now, 15 minutes later, at 9:25, the FAA notified NORAD, according to this statement, that Flight 77 was headed toward Washington. Was that the first notification, 9:25, that NORAD or DOD had that Flight 77 was probably hijacked? And, if it was, do you know why it took 15 minutes for FAA to notify NORAD? General Eberhardt said, "Sir, there's one minor difference: I saw it as 9:24, which you do as well, that we were notified, and that's the first notification we received." "Do you know if that was the first notification to DOD?" "Yes, sir, that's the first documented notification that we received."

I think you was involved in the phone bridge, General Eberhart!? Have you not been aware of the Phantom Flight 11?

GEN. ARNOLD: Thank you. The simple answer to your question is I believe that to be a fact: that 9:24 was the first time that we had been advised of American 77 as a possible hijacked airplane.

I think you was involved in the phone bridge, General Arnold!? Have you not been aware of the Phantom Flight 11?

8:55 a plane assumed to be Fl 77 seen on FAA radar heading east over West Virginia: Senator Levin during testimony of Gen. Ralph Eberhart, commander of NORAD, before the Senate Armed Services Committee on October 25

2. Notice jets from Otis & Langley AFB were scrambled and either appear
to have had time to intercept the plane that hit the Pentagon, but neither seem to have been directed to by "authorities" such as Cheney and NORAD who are documented to have been monitoring the flight on radar as it approached.

Also, clearly, the National Guard jets at Andrews could have intercepted the plane if they had been asked to do so.

3. Note also that Andrews had interceptors out on training mission
that could have easily gotten back in time to intercept the plane, or set up a protective screen over D.C.
