CLG: Was a "Bomber" superimposed onto photo, London
Edited on Mon Jul-25-05 11:26 AM by rainy
check out this pic at www.legitgov.org
It states that the man in the back by the rail is suberimposed. Look at his left arm, it is behind the rail and they claim that close ups show the rail going into his head. Why whould they doctor this and what else are they hiding?

1. Artifacting in a poor quality video image from a burned-in camera.
Move along.

5. Really? By who? The pole is going through his head, no matter...
how 'grainy' it is, that's a fact.

7. some people seem really eager to write this off as a bad picture
which it could be, but I am not eager to do so.

As I said in the tread last night, there should be a matching video to this picture since it was a video camera. I say we try to get this video. It would definitely show it to be edited or not edited.

9. No one discredited it, they simply pointed out possiblities to explain it.
It is a real photo. It's not like it is a fake that someone edited after they got it from Yahoo. That would be discrediting.

by people who know something about digital images.

22. Woah...

JPEG compression DOESN'T manipulates layers. Changes color, may add ugly pixels here and there but definitely won't copy the whole pattern of the metal post and paste it a bit more on the left RIGHT in line with the rest of the rail by pure COINCIDENCE.

23. simple explanation
I assume these cameras are not "movie" cameras, but take pictures on some time interval and then save them on an analog tape, like a movie. Perhaps two adjacent images may fade together in the conversion.

20. You are seeing jpeg artifacts. If faked, why would they put the pole
in front of his head? That would be extra work.

21. Lower rail doesn't line up.
The lower rail is in front of the lower half of the suspect. Was he behind that rail?

17. Yup. Face not reasonably recognizable, so why fake?
If it was to implicate someone in particular, wouldn't they be recognizable?

15. If the guy was superimposed, why is his arm "behind" the railing?
That would indicate that the railing was superimposed, right?

Look at the whole picture. The jpeg artifacting is consistent throughout. There is nothing anamolous with the bomber.

16. What about these two areas?
Edited on Mon Jul-25-05 12:11 PM by jsamuel
This one shows an extra black line that comes from nowhere and goes nowhere. Also notice how the curb is missing in this part of the photo on the right side of the line.

This one shows where the man on the right is merged and blured with the lamp post that otherwise has a black line on it's left side all the way up and down.

24. It's a bus stop
For your information, the pole on the right hand side of the frame is
a bus stop. The "lack of a kerb" and "extra black line" effects are
not JPEG artifacts but a board attached to the pole to display the
schedule for the buses that stop at that location. The sign is facing
the passengers hence at an oblique angle to the camera.

Similarly, whilst I can't make out the details here, the "blurred arm"
effect is suspiciously adjacent to a metal band around the pole that
is holding a (road-facing) plate ... probably a "no parking" sign or
similar.

26. How to add someone into a photo
How to add someone into a photo :

Step 1 :

Crop the guy from another photo (i used Dubya in this example) then past it into the new photo :

Step 2 :

Resize him

Notice how he appear in front of the supposed terrorist.

Step 3 :

To make dubya appear in the background i need to crop the guy with the white plastic and copy and past him into a layer above dubya.

Layer only pic :

Step 4 :

If i want to make dubya appear like the guy that was supposed to be photoshoped,For the same reason i have to crop the guy with the plastic bag ,i have to crop the steel bar behind him which make no sense if the goal is to make the pic look real.(ie it's more work and it make it less real)

Picture of the all the layer i used :

I'm far from being a pro at photoshop but i'm sure no one with a basic knowledge of the program will make that kind of mistake since this require more work

29. Bus Picture is where to look imo
If there was some photoshoping involved the bus picture is more obvious case imo.I first saw those image on TV, on this one really make me wonder.

Notice the shape of the man and his average color/lightening that doesn't match the background.

Why is the left part , his right arm, very dark, more than the actual background. Why is his cap and to a lesser extend his head more pixelate than the rest of the picture ? Why is the right part, his left arm so blurry ? It can't be due to movement and bad cam cause the background details ,near him are clear.

Why does black shape around him ? They only appear there.

Ear ring for a muslim ??

700% Zoom on his ear.
