According to the Pentagon and CNN, Abu Ayyub al-Masri has taken over as the leader of al Qaeda in Iraq. I posted this thread in GD which questions his identity, but there was little interest in it there. At the very least, Zarqawi's role in Iraq was exaggerated by the Pentagon and some of the stories about him (like meeting with Hezboallah) looked exactly like disinfo.
