Town Hall "debate" favors bush*
at least that is what GOPer's are spinning

bush* has had many "town hall" meetings during the recent campaigns -- the attendees were either pre-screened/selected and/or by INVITATION ONLY based on their party affiliation and whether or not they planned on voting for bush* -- in other words the audiences were packed with shills. Questions were of a soft-ball nature and phrased to illicit a positive spin.

(check out this tidbit -- http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=102&topic_id=890280)

tonight's audience is suppose to be undecided voters ranging from leaners to fence sitters. To my knowledge - the signing of loyalty oaths was not required.

so while a 'town-hall' packed with shills may favor bush* -- a 'town-hall' with a real mix of people will probably NOT favor bush*

2. Yeah, he's great at Town Hall meetings...
Toady audiences have enabled him to lie with abandon so many times that he will have to "work real hard" tonight to temper his responses.

That's why the first debate was so hard for him. He had a very difficult time, knowing that fact checkers were watching him.

4. He loses his patience with "common" people too easily. If someone
doesn't agree with him, he gets his "how-dare-you-you-worthless-peasant" look. Most unbecoming. But it will be priceless to see it flashed on the screen at a presidential debate.

5. Not only that, but he'll be flashing that look
at someone other than "his opponent." I want him to get pissed off at an everyday American who asks a hard question. Imagine what fun ways that can be spun.

Personally, I'm happy that they're talking * up because he's gonna get crushed again. Kerry has been doing these town hall style events all summer. And unlike Bush, he's been dealing with hecklers at almost every one of these meetings. It really shows too. He exudes confidence and poise even when confronted with the toughest critics. Kerry rocks!!

6. Excellent
They said the last debate favored scrubbie and when he sucked it was 100x worse because the debate was supposed to favor him. Let's keep raising those expectations. The flame out will be brighter and hotter.

7. suggestion for debate watchers
rate the questions posed to the candidates.

0-5 -- 0 being a soft-ball question, 5 being a hard-ball question

then rate the answers -- 0-5 0=dodged/spinned/avoided, 5=direct answer, clear and to the point

Last time, I was too busy dancing around my apartment to take notes. This time, I'll be watching at an event so there will be no dancing. That leaves plenty of time to take notes and begin formulating LTTE.

9. Kerry has done a lot of town hall meetings, also.
That spin the GOP is using is bullshit. Kerry is no novice when it comes to this.

Thanks for the photograph. Just as we all suspected.

10. Kerry will do great tonight if...
...he keeps his answers succinct and to the point. That's his Achilles heel.

I also hope he doesn't try too hard to be a "reg'lar" guy. He's well-educated, articulate, and sophisticated. He needs to stay out of wonkland, but the whole nation was laughing at what a dumbshit W was last debate. Let's keep 'em laughing.

11. Plus, at all of those town hall meetings loaded with shills,
he can lie all he wants because he never has anyone rebutting what he says like he will tonight. Those lies will be called lies tonight!

13. Let em spin and raise expectations for * - only helps Kerry in long run
Bush does do great on the stump at these "townhall" meetings, because they have a hand-picked audience, and they preapprove all questions. Unless they have the same setup tonight, I really can't see * performing any better.

He'll still have the third debate to deal with.

16. actually
he was asked a similar question at one of his few press conferences

"....ummmm....errrrr....can't think of any, I'll have to get back to you...."

perhaps a better way to ask would be "if you make a decision based on what you would consider reliable information, and then later learn the original information was not accurate -- would you change your decision?

15. Well, Gallup (of the pro-Bush poll fame) is going to select the undecideds
tonight. Bill O'Reilly calls himself an undecided, and I wouldn't be surprised to find tonight's audience filled with pro-Bush "undecideds".

17. Question: At the end of the "debate" -- who will leave the stage first?
at the first "debate" left first, Kerry got a bit applause

at the end of the VP "debate" -- neither Edwards or Cheney left the stage, and resulted in a long pause and nervous laughter

who will leave first tonight?

19. NO debate favors the chimp.
If the people get to ask REAL questions, which I doubt, the chimp will fall apart. As we have seen, the man cannot answer questions "off the cuff"...it's just not possible. He's an ignorant, out of touch with reality MORAN!

Your picture should be sent to Olbermann! He would show it on his show! I know he will!

21. Kerry NEVER gets rattled by questions out of the blue...
...time after time, Kerry has dealt successfully with would-be hecklers in live audiences by hearing them out and then responding in detail to their questions. Additionally, Kerry's people have NEVER required loyalty oaths as part of the price of admission.

The same cannot be said about FratBoy. He gets rattled easily by "unscripted" questions, and then gets visibly frustrated and angry. His people have solved that problem by allowing only the most loyal Republicans to attend his live functions.

Now, as far as the bulge on the back of FratBoy's coat, I'm thinking that is where his body armor fastens in the back.

23. that's what the morning shows are saying too
because he is so "warm and fuzzy" and connects with the average folks while Kerry is too "aloof" and he has held dozens of them--they did mention before "hand picked audiences" though.

He is very good. he has very deep knowledge of the issues and is generally unflappable.
